How to unlock the Tell Willy I Got 'Em achievement in Two Worlds II - Definitive Guide
The Downside:
- Built as a warrior or mage (most common), your ranged capabilities are close to zero. I would seriously suggest upping accuracy for more damage, and invest in the quick draw and overdraw skills from the ranged tree. 35 Accuracy is required to use the first crossbow.
- Loading a previous high-level character makes the enemies that much harder.
- Crossbows are a pain to wield. Go into combat mode (Direction Pad Down). To 'draw', hold the Right Trigger until the circular bar is full, or it turns red (overdraw). Hit the Right Trigger again to let loose the bolt. You will be stationary during the draw period, so move sideways as soon as it's done when enemies are shooting back at you. Regular shots have auto-aim, while any special ranged skills will have to be manually aimed.
- Some monsters are pure pain to take down, especially ranged enemies that will interrupt you constantly.
The Upside:
- Every single red dot on your map will count towards this achievement, even stationary plants.
- There is a ghost that will let you respec skills very early, to your left on the second island where you follow the trail of the missing chest. Expect to spend maybe 5k gold, but know that you could make this a lot easier by going fully ranged, then changing back to your prefered playstyle once this achievement unlocks.
- Go into your inventory and look for the Reputation Log. Scrolling this to the very bottom will let you know exactly how many crossbow kills you have.
- Forgot this one first round, but really a great tip for those non-rangers; you can damage an enemy down to the very last sliver of health by any means at your disposal, then put a bolt in them and it will count as a crossbow kill.
- Also be sure to check out more pointers from MysticWierdo in the comments!
Update: Tips added and clarified where you find the crossbow to begin with.
Any further tips or comments welcome!
Missable
What makes this missable is that following the storyline missions the game returns to the main menu and there is no additional free roam.
A crossbow is given as a reward for The Mysterious Case of a Lost Chest/Access the Pirates' Supplies. I also got one during Organ Exchange for the Dead. There are several opportunities to get them but I got less than 10 during the DLC so don't go dismantling all of them.
The crossbow requires bolts (ammunition). They look similar to arrow quivers for the bow. There are several places to get them from chests and throughout the quests, but where I first got them was in the locked crypt on the southern end of the cemetery during the quest Lost Souls.
While the stationary plants scattered throughout the land are tempting targets, be careful about how many you kill. The Zygophylla drop ingredients that are required for the Scientific Revolution quest. This quest is integral to Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho!. By the time you near the end of the DLC killing the bears and wolves on Kanger Island (the North-Eastern island) should be no problem and they respawn quickly.
As soon as you find the first crossbow, we immediately start using it to shoot at flowers with thorns; they are the most harmless, but it is important to kill with a simple arrow, and not a fire or ice one, otherwise it won’t count, it also works on some animals
