How to unlock the Failure Breeds Success achievement in Vanquish - Definitive Guide

Bipedal means standing up. The left Argus will always be in spider-mode. In order to force him into bipedal you have to shoot the Core as usual but fail the QTE on purpose so you don't kill him.
Once you did, you can kill both Argus' and voila.

The earliest opportunity to attempt this is Act 1-3: Giant.

This requires the KNRB-0 Argus to be in it's second (bipedal) form. You need to destroy each of the listed weak spots before finishing the robot off. The legs are also a weak spot but destroying them isn't required. Each of these weak spots can be identified by it's orange glow. After destroying a weak spot the robot will collapse and expose it's core - destroying the core destroys the robot. You can start taking out the core during the collapses to shorten the duration of the fight but do not attack additional weak spots during the collapses as it won't destroy them. When attacking the head you will be prompted with a QTE, completing this does not void the achievement.

An alternative location to attempt this is Act 2-3: Nightmare where you will have to fight two Argus robots in order to unlock the Failure Breeds Success achievement.

Only on Act 2-3: Nightmare

Remember the KNRB-0 Argus from Act 1-3 (Giant)? Well, you'll be facing two of these now! I suggest doing this one on casual difficulty, preferably using level select after having beat the game. From the start of this Act, enter the building in front of you, destroy the few enemies inside, and once you're back outside, you'll find 2 of these KNRB-0 Argus robots. One will be four-legged, the other one in the back will be two-legged. It took me a moment to figure out what I had to do, until someone put me on track (thanks kr4t0s). In order to get this achievement, both KNRB-0 Argus robots have to be two-legged before you destroy them!

Take care of the four-legged one to start with, because the two-legged one in the back won't be attacking you (unless you start attacking it) as it'll be too busy attacking the ally ship flying around (thanks Solty). Back to the four-legged one, shoot its weak spots on the arms and legs, and the core when exposed. From the moment the core gets destroyed, a QTE will be triggered.

Remember, in Act 1-3, you had to use the buttons as prompted to make the Argus transform into its second phase? In this Act, it is the opposite!! Pressing the correct buttons when prompted, is NOT what we want to do this time, because this will destroy the Argus. Instead, do nothing at all in this QTE!! It will transform into its second phase and become two-legged (bi-pedal). Destroy both of them when 2-legged.

Here's a video that might help. The author starts attacking the 2-legged one first, then the 4-legged one. In fact, it doesn't matter which one gets destroyed first. But the video should give you an idea.

Watch the video and repeat. Set the difficulty to Casual Auto.

The point is to turn the spider into a robot standing on two legs. This is easy to do when the moment comes to finish off the spider (you run between its paws and aim at the eye). DO NOT SHOOT or SPIN (you will be asked to spin the left stick, you do not need to do this). After that, he will throw you off and turn into a robot on two legs, then kill him.

You don't have to kill two at once. You can knock down the one that is already walking on two legs, die or restart the checkpoint, kill him again and you get the trophy. Personally, this is what happened to me.

Even at the easiest level, this trophy can be difficult, so I’ll add a little information on how to do it for sure. The most important thing is to first destroy the second Argus robot (which is already in bipedal mode). The fact is that a spider is killed quickly, but a two-legged one is much more resilient and snaps back much more seriously; if there are two of them at once, the situation may not turn out in your favor. Therefore, we do not pay attention to the poke (but do not let him shoot himself in the back) and deal with the biped. When he gives his soul to God, we take on the little guy - we shoot him at the red lantern (or whatever it is) above the gun, literally several magazines from an ordinary assault rifle. A scene will begin where you will be asked to press keys, but don’t press them!!! Well, then he will turn into a biped and everything will be simpler.
