How to unlock the Guardian achievement in Vanquish - Definitive Guide

This achievement can be unlocked on any difficulty, but is only available during Act 3 Chapter 5 titled "Despair". You must not let any allied armored vehicles get destroyed during this chapter.

When chapter 5 starts, you will have to fight your way past several foot soldiers and a tank. Once you have dispatched all of the enemies, you will come to a raised bridge that runs perpendicular to the road that you started on. Go up either side of this bridge to find a few more basic enemies, and two stationary turrets.

Clear out the enemies as fast as you can and hop on to either of the turrets.

At this point the camera will focus on a battlefield in front of you which contains several ally troops, and three allied armored vehicles. There will be several enemy robots that you can take out using your turret, as long as the enemy tanks haven't appeared yet.

Past the firefight raging in front of you, you will see what looks like three large boulders. One to the left, one in the center of the road and one to the right. The enemy tanks will appear from either side of the center rock, with the last tank actually destroying the rock and coming right up the middle of the road.

As the tanks appear, start shooting at them. The turrets are strong enough to take them out, no matter where you shoot on the tank, there is no specific weak spot you need to target. However, the turrets do have limited ammo, so make sure you switch to the other turret if you start running low.

The enemy tanks appear in the following order:
Left of the center rock
Right of the center rock
Right of the center rock
Left of the center rock
Directly through the center rock.

If these enemy tanks make contact with an allied piece of armor, you will need to restart as they destroy the allied tanks almost instantly. But the turrets have enough power to destroy the enemy tanks fairly quickly, so this shouldn't be to difficult

If you do have problems unlocking this achievement, I would suggest playing on a lower difficulty level, as the enemy tanks wont have as much health.

I have included a narrated video of myself, unlocking this achievement to demonstrate what you need to do to meet the given requirements. I hope it helps clear up any confusion.

If you down vote this guide, please leave a comment as to why you did so. This will help me improve not only this guide, but future guides I make as well. Thank you all, and good hunting!

Only on Act 3-5: Despair

In order to get this achievement, you have to protect your ally APC from being destroyed. From the start of this mission, you will notice in front of you an elevated walkway that can be accessed from both left or right ramps. You will want to go up that walkway, then to the center. There are 4 gun turrets you can take control of. Use the gun turrets to take care of the enemies.

Once the first set of enemies have been destroyed, use one of the 2 gun turrets on the north side (facing that huge blasting cannon, which is the Kreon). You will get a brief animation of an ally APC driving from under the walkway. This is where the show begins! Do you see that rock in the center at the back of the court? From behind that rock, you will see enemy vehicles with circular saw blades in front if them, coming left and right. You will need to destroy all 5 enemy vehicles as fast as possible, before they get the chance to destroy one of your vehicles. Using the turrets makes getting this achievement a walk in the park.

At the very beginning of the level, as soon as you get rid of the enemy tank, you will be ordered to protect the artillery from others like it. The main thing to remember is that when tanks approach a sufficient distance, they accelerate and hitting them will be quite problematic. For greater confidence, you can turn on the Casual mode, because at this difficulty level, the damage from any weapon (even from a stationary machine gun) increases significantly.
