This works also in the local Co-op Mode. You can not play it over Xbox Live, unfortunately. You have to play with Rorschach for yourself when being the game host. You will be on the left side of the spitscreen. Using a widescreen is recommended. It is great cooperative play. But it is very bad that only the game host can gain any Achievements - the other gamer gets nothing at all.
The Abilities and Pickups you will collect in the local Co-op Mode with Rorschach will count as permanently aquired - this is also reflected backwards, from your own solo progress, to the local Co-op Mode play. So, you will have them when playing solo - but not any of those that have been collected by either using another Xbox Live Profile, or without using a Xbox Live Profile, for the assistant gamer in the local Co-op Mode. Same when you use a character for yourself, that you have previously used in solo play, that character comes with all Abilities and Pickups you have collected there - but this is negative for the character of the second gamer. Lastly, all Abilities and Pickups aquired in the local Co-op Mode, regardless of the Xbox Live Profile(s) that have been used for the assistant gamer, are permanently there for any next assistant gamer - but not the collection status of your own effort will be reflected for the assistant gamer. How far you have progressed in the story - it is extra for the local Co-op Mode - is dependent solely on your own effort when using a character for yourself - it means, you will be able to select between specific Chapters that relates on that system.
Regardless of the collection status about Abilities and Pickups, if the software's artificial intelligence is the assistant as a character on your side in solo play, that artificial intelligence is unable to use further fighting techniques and aquired Abilities. This is pretty bad. So that is how it does not matter when considering to power up a character for the use with the artificial intelligence, in order to increase fighting efficiency. Rather more you will have to fight hard alone instead, if you do not want to get hit. Also remember that Rorschach is more skilled in movement than Nite Owl - he dives and rolls for evasion much more sexy and efficient than Nite Owl is able to - it makes a whole difference when facing Underboss in the battle.
