However, for the daring, there are some things you ought to take into consideration if you're willing to go head-to-head with a stranger online.

All Monsters can teleport in close proximity to the player after a short while. This means the monster will almost always be close to you, so you'll have to always be on your toes.

Running from the monster while alone isn't a good idea, as monsters; especially Subject 23, are fast and will almost always catch you, even with faster characters such as Denali. Despite this, if the monster is sprinting, they will always experience a drop in speed when fairly close to investigators, which gives the more alert and wary a chance to discover the monster.

While AOE (Area-of-effect) flashlights such as the light-bar and toy torch can be useful tools when playing with other investigators, in a one-on-one they provide limited utility to you while making your location even more obvious to the monster. High-beam flashlights such as the Professional Flashlight that offer good spread, range and battery life are vital.

Beyond this, it is a good idea to learn the layout of each map, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of each creature.
