How to unlock the Master Gunslinger achievement in Wild Arms 3 - Definitive Guide

In order to obtain this trophy, you will need to complete the final division at Gunner’s Heaven - the Master Division - then fight two optional boss battles: Emperor Marduk and Bad News. The Master Division costs 10,000 gella to enter, and you will have 15 rounds to complete five waves of enemies. It is required to be at level 75 before entering the Master Division, but I recommend being at or above level 90 (see Dominant Drifters for more information on reaching level 90).

Further, I recommend that you start using Finest Arts at this stage of the endgame if you haven’t yet. To use Finest Arts, you need the Violator gear. This can be found in the Dim Root Path near the middle of the dungeon. You will need to use Virginia’s Changecrest to turn some blocks into gems, and then use the Galecrest across the pits. You will then see a chest with the Violator in it. I recommend equipping the Violator on a medium that Clive has equipped. Finest Arts is triggered by using Gatling on an enemy when the character has 100 FP and no more bullets left. The character will attack the enemy with his fists four times, and on the fifth blow, Finest Arts will trigger. The amount of damage that Finest Arts generally does is the character’s level multiplied by 1,000. Thus, at level 100, Finest Arts will generally cause 100,000 damage.

To be able to fully abuse Finest Arts, you will need to own a lot of Full Carrots to constantly keep Clive’s FP at 100. This can be done through gardening at the Secret Garden. The process begins slowly, but in less than an hour, you will be able to harvest large amount of Full Carrots in no time. First, go to the Secret Garden and have Florina sow Full Carrot seeds if you have not done so yet. Plant the seeds in every of the eight flower beds. In order to harvest the carrots, you will need time to pass. In game, this is done through accumulating hidden points. These points can be accumulated by letting the in-game clock run, battling, talking to NPCs, but the best way to accumulate points is by resting in an inn. Resting in an inn will accumulate 20 points, and Full Carrots require 100 points before you can obtain one from the flower beds. The best inn to use is Gallows’ bed in Baskar Colony because it is free. Thus, for every five times you sleep in Gallows’ bed, there is a chance that you can obtain some Full Carrots in the Secret Garden.

The chances of obtaining Full Carrots from the Secret Garden at the beginning are very low. Initially, there is about a 10% chance of Full Carrots growing for every 100 points you accumulate. The only way to increase the chances of Full Carrots growing is by breeding them, like you did in Hidden Horticulture . For every Full Carrot you breed, the chances of growing one increases by 1%. For example, if you sleep at the Baskar Colony and return to the Secret Garden and receive four Full Carrots and breed all four of them, your chances of harvesting Full Carrots for every 100 points you accumulate increases from 10% to 14%. The beginning of this process is rather slow and will require you to sleep in Gallows’ bed multiple times just to get a small amount of Full Carrots, but the more you breed them, your chances of harvesting Full Carrots increases, and you will receive more and more Full Carrots. Before long, you’ll be able to harvest large amounts of Full Carrots in little time.

Finally, in order to trigger Finest Arts more quickly, I would recommend Clive only have two bullets. If you upgraded his bullet capacity, return to any ARMs shop and choose “Initialize” and select Clive’s bullets. This will return it to default. With Finest Arts and a large amount of Full Carrots, you’re set to take on the Master Division, Emperor Marduk and Bad News.

Just like the previous two divisions, the Master Division is comprised of five enemy waves and you have only fifteen turns to complete it.

  • First wave: The first wave of enemies consists of three Daredevil enemies. They are weak to earth, so to begin, make sure Gallows is equipped with Terra Roar and Lust Jaw, and Love Charm. Put all the points you can in the Weakness personal skill. Begin with Virginia or Jet using a Mini Carrot or Full Carrot on Gallows if his FP is not at 100, and then have Gallows summon Grudiev. This should make short work of the Daredevils.
  • Second wave: The second wave of enemies consists of six Sphere enemies. They are weak to dark. On the first turn, use a Full Carrot on Gallows to restore him to 100 FP. On the second turn, have Gallows summon Luceid, which will make short work of the Spheres.
  • Third wave: The third wave of enemies is a Death Mask enemy. It is weak to light, so using Spectre may prove useful, but since it is a lone enemy, using Finest Arts on it will end the battle in one turn.
  • Fourth wave: The fourth wave of enemies is a Dantalion enemy. The Dantalion alternates between a closed form, where he is invulnerable to physical damage, and an open form, where he is invulnerable to magical damage. Begin by restoring Clive’s FP to 100 with a Full Carrot, and on the second turn use Finest Arts to quickly dispose of the Dantalion.
  • Fifth wave: The fifth wave of enemies consists of a Doll Drone enemy. Finest Arts will not work against this enemy, and his attacks can cause Fallen, so be sure to have all characters equipped with the Fallen Ward personal skill. The Doll Drone can only be attacked physically with Clive’s Lock On force ability, so have him use it on every turn and have Jet use Replay on Clive every turn as well. Virginia should be constantly restoring Clive’s FP using Mini or Full Carrots, and Gallows should be using his strongest Arcana. The Doll Drone will go down quickly with this strategy.

With the Master Division cleared, you will then need to defeat the Emperor Marduk and Bad News optional bosses. Before attempting this, make sure all your characters have the Dark Ward and Confusion Ward personal skills equipped (see Out of the Abyss and Mother of the UFO’s for information on obtaining elemental and status ailment ward gear). To take on Emperor Marduk, go upstairs and speak to Lord Begucci.

With Dark Ward, Emperor Marduk is a cakewalk. He has 240,000 HP, so after three Finest Arts from Clive, the battle should be over. To make quick work of him, change the turn order to Virginia, then Jet, then Clive, and finally Gallows. Have Virginia use a Full Carrot on Clive, Jet casts Replay on Clive, Clive uses Finest Arts, and Gallows uses another Full Carrot on Clive, and then Clive will replay his Finest Arts at the end of the turn once again.

With Emperor Marduk defeated, speak to Ortega and choose to chat. He will challenge you to a battle. Bad News has 325,000 HP. Make sure that all your characters have the Confusion Ward personal skill equipped before entering. Just like with Emperor Marduk, changing the turn order to Virginia, Jet, Clive and Gallows and having Clive use Finest Arts twice in one battle will make short work of Bad News.

Once Bad News is defeated, you will finally obtain this trophy.
