How to unlock the Novice Gunslinger achievement in Wild Arms 3 - Definitive Guide

The earliest you can travel to Gunner's Heaven (it's a sort-of town) is when you get the sandcraft (you get the sandcraft automatically through the story).

Travel via the sandcraft to the very top left of the world map. There is a beach there you can dock at. Now travel south via foot/horse until you're a little above the middle left of the world map. Scan around there and Gunner's Heaven should appear.

You must be level 25 to challenge the Novice Division but you should already be that by the time you get the sandcraft. You'll be tasked with fighting 5 battles which must be completed in 25 turns (not per battle, all 5!).

The first battle is likely the longest because it's 3 enemies with a lot of HP. I'd recommend using your summons here to damage all 3 enemies. The next 4 battles are much easier and mostly involve single enemies. Also note that buffs persist through battles, including debuffs/status ailments. I would recommend bringing a few bronze-curative items.

Small tip - put the light guardian on Gallows. Don't heal him at any point (he should have lots of HP anyway) and let him take damage. Cast the arcana "Valiant" - it will boost his damage based on how much HP he has lost. If you combine that with gatling then he can take out an enemy in just one turn! His normal attack will also be really powerful. Valiant will persist between battles too so no need to recast it.

This trophy is story-related. It cannot be missed.

Gunner’s Heaven is a coliseum-like arena in which your party will be pitted against waves of strong enemies. The catch, however, is that you will have a limited number of rounds to defeat every enemy wave in the division.

To locate Gunner’s Heaven, speak to Putnam in Boot Hill after the Yggdrasil dungeon to learn the location, and then use the Sandcraft to land at the continent below the one Yggdasil is on and search the coordinates X: 2030, Y: 15860. Your party must be at or above level 25 in order to be able to enter the Novice Division.

The Novice Division at Gunner’s Heaven costs 2,000 gella and is comprised of five enemy waves, and you will have 25 rounds to defeat them all.

  • First Wave: The first wave of enemies is three Ganga enemies. They are relatively weak and pose no big threat, but can be annoying because they occasionally use Power Smash, which cancels a character’s turn if they have no acted yet. They have no weakness, but can be disposed of easily with physical attacks and strong Arcana. Save your FP for further battles.
  • Second wave: The second wave of enemies is one Wendigo. The Wendigo is weak against wind, so use Vortex to inflict a lot of damage. Additionally, Grav is also able to shave off a large amount of its HP. I recommend only attacking physically with Clive because it has a heavy hitting counter attack, so don’t let your party get worn down by having them all physically attack the beast. Be sure, too, that the character with the Fiery Rage medium has at least 75 FP by the end of this battle, so use Mini Carrots or a Full Carrot before it ends.
  • Third wave: The third wave of enemies is six Shambling Mould enemies. Simply have the character with Fiery Rage summon Moor Gault to finish them off in one fell swoop.
  • Fourth wave: The fourth wave of enemies is one Balor. It is annoying because it can inflict the disease and poison status ailments, so try to finish it off quickly. It is weak against thunder, so use Inspire as well as physical attacks to defeat it quickly.
  • Fifth wave: The fifth wave of enemies is one Armordrake. Since this is the final battle in the Novice Division, don’t be afraid to use any remaining FP for Gatling. Armordrake is also weak against Wind, so Vortex can inflict a large amount of damage. Further, Armordrake comes with a defense boost, so casting Eraser will cause it to cast Shield on itself in the next turn. So long as you constantly cast Eraser on it, it will always waste its turns casting Shield on itself.

If you are able to complete the Novice Division within 25 rounds, you will obtain this trophy.
