How to unlock the Out of the Abyss achievement in Wild Arms 3 - Definitive Guide

In order to face Ragu O Ragla, you will be required to go through all 100 floors of the Abyss. There is no saving in the Abyss, so you must go through it all in one attempt. To make this endeavor easier, be sure to have a Migrant Level of 20, and an ECN Meter of 40 (see Master Migrant for more information) so you can either avoid as many encounters for free, or have a high enough ECN Meter to avoid them all.

Further, Ragu O Ragla uses elemental attacks against your party most of the time. With every elemental ward equipped, your party will be near-invincible against it, aside from its occasional physical attacks. By stealing the elemental rings you are not in possession of and selling them to the Black Market, you will be able to buy them all and equip your whole party with every elemental ward personal skill. Consult Mother of the UFOs for more information on how to use the Black Market and the best way to steal items from enemies.

The best enemies to steal each elemental ring from and where to find them are as follows:

  • Fire Ring: Adds the Fire Ward personal skill. Stolen from the Chimera Fray at the Dissection Facility.
  • Water Ring: Adds the Water Ward personal skill. Stolen from the Chimera Muse at the Dissection Facility.
  • Ice Ring: Adds the Ice Ward personal skill. Dropped by Lolithia, or Sun Flayer in the Nightmare Castle and Fleurety in the Cradle of the Metal God.
  • Earth Ring: Adds the Earth Ward personal skill. Stolen from the Chimera Geo at the Dissection Facility.
  • Wind Ring: Adds the Wind Ward personal skill. Stolen from the Chimera Wing at the Dissection Facility.
  • Thunder Ring: Adds the Thunder Ward personal skill. Stolen from the Thunderdrake at the Dragon’s Lair.
  • Dark Ring: Adds the Dark Ward personal skill. Stolen from the Necromancer at the Nightmare Castle.
  • Light Ring: Adds the Light Ward personal skill. Stolen from the Will-O’-The-Wisp at the Nightmare Castle.

With every elemental ward equipped on every character, along with a Migrant Level of 20 and an ECN Meter of 40, you are fully prepared to take on the Abyss. You have already visited the Abyss through the story to obtain the Dragon Idol. It has 100 floors, and they are all randomly generated. You must collect all five white gems on each floor to open the door to the next floor. Luckily, these white gems restore a little bit of your ECN Meter, allowing you to continue avoiding random encounters on your way to the 100th floor.

If you finish the Nightmare Castle, you will be on the world map and random encounters be disabled. You will be able to go to the Abyss and clear all 100 floors without any random encounters slowing you down. You will also not be able to save after finishing the Nightmare Castle, but since you are not able to use Gimel Coins in the Abyss anyway, there is no big loss. (Thanks to Rozalia1 for this tip.)

Before going through the door on the 30th floor, you will face three Luranaire Zein enemies, and going through the door on the 60th floor, you will face four Zavegra Zein enemies. At levels 90+, these bosses are easy, especially if you use Finest Arts against them.

When you reach the 100th floor, you will be presented with a holographic archive. Use the Kramer Dolls near it, and you will be thrust into battle with Ragu O Ragla. Ragu O Ragla is the most powerful optional boss in the game. It uses two attacks, a fire attack that hits your whole party, a physical attack, and a physical counter attack. With the Fire Ward personal skill equipped, your party is almost invincible, with only its physical attack to worry about. Rearrange your party turn order to Virginia, Jet, Clive and Gallows. Have Virginia use a Full Carrot on Clive, Jet casts Replay on Clive, Clive uses Finest Arts on Ragu O Ragla, and Gallows uses another Full Carrot on Clive, and then Clive will replay his turn and use Finest Arts on Ragu O Ragla once again. Ragu O Ragla has 750,000 HP, so you will be doing this many times before it finally goes down. If you ever need to heal, have Virginia heal using Mystic and Jet use the Full Carrot on Clive instead.

Once Ragu O Ragla is defeated, use the teleporter to the entrance of the Abyss. Another holographic archive will block your path. Use the Kramer Dolls near it, and you will be thrust into another battle with Ragu O Ragla, only this time it is more powerful. In addition to the attacks it had in the previous battle, it now has access to all elemental attacks that hits the whole party. Be sure to have all elemental ward personal skills equipped on your party and you will be near-invincible, just like in the previous match. Follow the same strategy as the previous battle. Ragu O Ragla’s second form has 999,999 HP, so it will take longer to take it down, but with every elemental ward, there is very little danger in this battle.

Once you’ve defeated Ragu O Ragla’s second form, you will obtain this trophy and you are free to exit the Abyss.
