In order to complete a contract you must complete all 8 stages of one contract. You can use gold to skip each stage of the contract. This will unlock the tank and the achievement.

Steps to signing a contract.
1. Go to "Tanks" tab.
2. Select the "Mercenaries" nation
3. Select a tank that is currently available.
NOTE- Read all the stages as some may require specific tanks/nations/tiers that you may not have.
4. Select "Sign Contract" or pay to skip.
5. Complete or pay to skip all Stages, 8 total. You could also buy out the whole contract in one go instead of paying for each stage, which will be cheaper. (Credit to Darkness727420)
NOTE- The contracts do expire. This can be seen on the top left of the contract page. (Credit to DigestedGolem)

The lower tier the tank you are trying to unlock, the easier it is. The XP requirements will be a lot lower and the parts are of lower tier tanks so if you need to use a tank you don't have for a centain part of a contract, it will be less of a struggle to unlock those tanks.

Some of the trickier tasks.

Kill an unspotted enemy - This seems to be the most difficult to get as it relies almost purely on luck. The best way to do this is to pick an artillery tank if available. Once the battle has begun, play as normal until the second half of the battle. Once you feel your team is doing good enough without your support, start looking for light armored, low health sniping tank. Then fully aim in and hold your fire. As soon as he disappears, send your shot down range.

If arty isn't available or you simply do not have one, pick a tank that has high alpha damage because as soon as you hit a concealed target it will most likely most out of the kill zone. TDs are usually a good choice to kill. Wait for a spotted one to kill a friendly, after about 5 seconds it will disappear. As soon as it disappears, blast away, and hope.

Win 2 battles – Sounds easy, right? I’ve spent upwards of 2 hours trying for this one. The game will let you lose 5 in a row no problem, but it will hold on to that second win for hours. The best way to do this is to platoon up. Just make sure your platoonmates aren’t potatoes.

Get a duelist medal – It’s difficult to get an enemy who is getting swarmed to shoot at you. The solution; ram them. If their health is a bit too high hold back a little and shoot them or shoot them as you’re charging them. Medium tanks are better for this because they are usually fast enough, have enough weight not to die, and do a lot of ramming damage. DO NOT ram heavies unless you're in a heavy.

Get XXXX spot damage/Get tank’s health in spotting damage – This one can be very RNG and luck based. The basic plan here is to pick the fastest tank you have available for the contract and just keep driving around the frontline. If it’s a heavy tank only contract/stage, poke the turret up above a hill, keep rocking your turret back and forth, and keep the enemy spotted. Coated optics and a crew trained in situational awareness and recon can be very helpful.

Kill a tank 2 tiers higher – If available, artillery is king at this task. Once you load up as a bottom tier into a match simply play as normal but once an enemy has 50% health, wait until a teammate shoots him again before shooting.

If artillery is not available for the contract, pick a fast tank. Hold back and snipe for most of the match. 95% of the time, the last few tanks on each team will be top tier. Find a target. Load up premium rounds. And finally, when you’re sure all or most of his support is dead, CHARGE! The biggest three problems with this task are that the game refuses to make you bottom tier (I know, first world problems, right?), you’re team is insanely good and demolishes the other team, or your teammates are braindead and your team gets stomped.

As of now, you can't cancel it per se. You could just wait for the time to expire or switch to another contract (can only be done one time per day).

Yes you can just buy a mercenary tank WITHOUT SKIPPING STAGES. and net the achievement. No need to sign any contract and or skip stages. If you have the gold, you can simply purchase the mercenary tank and you will get the achievement. I just did a few minutes ago.

Did you buy a premium merc or buy a regular merc tank outright? Cuz if you bought a regular one, it's just like skipping stages. However, if you bought a premium one (T.A.N.K., beach party, ...) and it unlocked, I'll update the solution. Thanks for looking into to this Darkness

I bought the deadbolt, it's regular a merc tank. I actually had no idea there are premium merc tanks. But yes buying the regular merc tanks outright is like skipping stages but I think it's a bit cheaper also instead of skipping one stage at a time. Amazingspider97 said he spent 6000 skipping all the stages. I'm not sure which tank he got so I'm unsure if it's cheaper to buy it outright, for any merc tank for that matter.

hmmm.... I guess I'll have to wait on the answer to the premium question. Right now, there's only a handful on premium mercs but I'm sure there will be more in the future.

I've since popped the mercenary tank masteey and the win 5 games in a mercenary platoon achievements; but still no achievment (or premium time) for the tank i unlocked. With no answer from Wot, I'm now trying the tier 3 contract to try again, but it's crazy frustrating.

it turns out, if you start the games and then complete the 8th stage of a contract while the console is off (because you don't earn the xp until the end of the game) the tank and contract will unlock, but the achievement and premium time won't be awarded.

If you feel you can't complete every stage (and I certainly can't), every stage you do complete lowers the buyout price of the tank. The lower stages aren't very hard so you can definitely save some gold by completing stages until you've had enough, and then buy the tank.

I need mercenary contracts to make a return ASAP so i can complete this DLC and be done with this game again (completed 360 version). Ridiculous that there aren't a few contracts available to complete every 2 weeks or something. If anyone has any info on when these mercenary contracts will return, please PM me :)

@KillCrazyCarl - Mercenary Contracts aren't open right now, for what reason, I don't know, but I'm hoping they come back, I wanted to build a collection, I already have three including The Machine, and I want more. Just need Top Shelf to finish the XBox One Edition, but I have the tanks I need to finish out, but would love to get more Mercenary tanks regardless.

The redacted section of tanks is for when they bring in modern tanks into the game. When that will be is anyone's guess let alone how it will be implemented along with the old tanks.

@dhedalo I was thinking this too. Technically its not a contract and therefore technically i don't think it will count towards this achievement on completing a "contract". As the needle is offered as an operation, but not sure whether to just go for it anyway for the possible chance it'll count :/

@dhedalo That sucks. I got to the last stage but didn't have enough time to complete it.
Just finished getting all the other mercenary achievements this weekend. Now got to wait for mercenary contracts to return for me to get the last achievement which is to complete a mercenary contract. Until then, i'm done with WoT.

@KillCrazyCarl - Don't need the achievement, but still grinding Chisel, on Stage 7 now with the spotting damage done, just over a hundred kills left, and more than halfway done the XP grind. Then it's onto Stage 8 to grind 880,000 XP to finish the Chisel.

Tusk is also available, but that grind looks like hell, not going to bother with it, although it's available for the same amount of time as Chisel, and yes, Smoothman is available, but only for a few more weeks, although the grind looks pretty easy if you have the right tanks to get through it quickly, and it will count towards ALL of the Mercenary achievements.

It's not GTA V Online, you can't pay-to-skip, you have to GRIND each stage, have fun.

I think they changed it because I DID NOT "grind" out the contract. If I remember correctly (this was 3 years ago by now) I completed a few stages legitimately but then I used gold to skip the rest of the stages I had left. So either I got away with it back then or it counted because I completed a few stages as intended.

Oh looking at my previous comment from 2019, yes you could just buy the tank and get the achievement. Which means they've changed the requirements/parameters to get the achievement. My comment is just a little ways up in this thread.

Might want to throw something in there for getting certain medals, I'm stuck getting a Confederate medal on Stage 6 of the BigTop Sherman right now.

Also, a section for when you have to cause double your maximum health to the enemy in four matches like I had to in Stage 5 of the same contract would be helpful.

@iBar13 me too. All i need is a mercenary tank to do the last achievements. I did contact wargaming a month or 2 ago about mercenary contracts and said they should make a return but couldn't give me a date as either didn't know or didn't want to give an expectation which wasn't true etc. So let hope the mercenary contracts are back in the next month or 2 :/

In the Work in progress/talked about (No ETA unless stated) it says "Mercenary Contracts are close to being finished"

We are possibly getting closer for this achievement to be possible again. Knowing the devs pace, I reckon we would be lucky if mercenary contracts are back in game before 2022 and obviously hoping it reinstates this achievement to be possible again. Especially as its my last achievement to get for this game and been patiently waiting for the contracts to return.
