WRC: FIA World Rally Championship

Only the top 100 times go on the ghost leaderboard and to be able to upload your Ghost, you have to be in the top 10 fastest ghosts on any particular stage.

The best way to set a time is to go to Online - Leaderboards - Ghosts.

It'll pop up Rally Sweden, Viggen 1 and in the top right is the Total Players with Ghost Times (should say 100).

Now find a Rally that has Total Players below say 20, hard tracks like Germany and Spain are good bets (at the time of writing Spain - Santa Marina 2 has 4 people on the board).

Make a note of the 10th place time and work hard to make it into the top 10, this'll get harder as the game gets older, so early adopters should get this pretty easy, next year it will be much tougher.

If you beat the 10th place time, use Y button to upload your ghost to the net.


Musquito has mentioned France is buggy, so it's probably best to play another country.

Concerning FailedSeppuku´s solution: Even easier to do the steps above but use the Group B cars of the DLC: I did it in this way. If you have problems with the control of the Group B cars then activate the brake assistant and ESP in the game options. After that handling of the Group B cars will be very easy and due to the performance difference between the Group B and the WRC cars you should get this achievement very fast.

as mentioned in other solutions the only way to do this now is to buy the dlc cars still 400msp pick..... lancia delta ,50% brake assistance, braking help on then pick japan sapporo 1 and change car settings to downforce -0,gears -0 im currently 8th on the leaderboard :) hope this helps

I would like to give credit to my brother RegionalRagger for helping me get this achievement.

It is still possible to obtain this achievement, but the difficulty in getting it and the possibility of it being glitched are higher, compared to what it used to be back in 2010. In fact let's just say now that this is the hardest online achievement to get in the game. What's worse is that the original company that developed the game - Black Bean & Milestone do not support the franchise any more since Big Ben Interactive have taken over it.

OK so here is how the achievement works. From the Main Menu of the game, you will need to choose "XBox Live" (picture of the globe), and then you will need to choose "Leaderboards" (has the 1, 2 & 3 podium finish symbol). You then need to choose "Ghosts" (the one at the far end).

Now on this leaderboard it will show you the Rally, the Stage and by default Positions 1 - 10. Only the Top 100 Players get their names placed on these leaderboards for each track that's in game. Some tracks don't even have 100 players on the list to-date, due to the difficulty of the track itself. The first 1 - 10 players in Positions will have a car picture on the right side of them on the leaderboard. This is their recorded ghosts that have successfully been uploaded to the leaderboard and you can download their ghost for the respective track by highlight their names and pressing the button. Should you decide to look at the next page for Positions 11 - 20 as an example, the car icon on the right side of the name will not appear. This simply means that even though they've reached a respective position on the chart, they will not have an uploaded ghost for you to download and race with.

Now the description for the achievement is very misleading in which in order to get a ghost to upload successfully, you now have to beat a ghost and take over it's position on the leaderboard. As you know, only the Top 10 people on each Stage get their ghosts uploaded... that means you've got to download someones ghost and actually beat it on one of the tracks of your choice to have a chance in getting it uploaded. In addition it is known that beating the person who's 10th on the leaderboard actually may not allow you to upload your ghost correctly. Therefore the minimum ranked ghost you've got to beat is the one that's in 9th place.
This is why now the achievement is more difficult to obtain, because you've got the best of the best who have raced hard in the game on the desired tracks and nowadays, you've got to find a way to outsmart this ghost by playing well in the game.

Now that you've got an idea of what you need to do, you now need to scroll through the available tracks that are in the game and choose the Rally & Stage you believe you will be good at to get at least 9th on the leaderboard or above.

WARNING: It is not recommended to choose any Stages based in "Rally De France". Apparently the game is buggy in a bad way should you decide to choose this country.

DLC: There was originally a download pack you could get for the game that costed a small fee. The Download Content was called "WRC Group B Cars". Should you have this DLC, it will give you different leaderboards for you to access, making this achievement way easier to unlock. Sadly though the DLC has been de-listed and I cannot provide much more information in regard to it.

So once you have chosen the track you wish to try and beat the ghost on, scroll down and press to download the ghost you are going against with. It's up to you if you just want to focus on beating the ghost that's 9th place on the leaderboard, or try another one that's higher in the rank.

Once it's downloaded you will need to return to the Main Menu and choose "Single Player" (lonesome helmet guy). You then need to choose "Time Attack" (clock) and then choose your class of cars. Choose the driver of your choice and then choose the track you wish to beat the ghost on. If you have chosen the correct track, a message before you start the race will show above saying that a ghost is available. Finally you will need to choose the option that allows you to "Race against a downloaded ghost". The race will then load.

Now here is the ultimate part of the achievement, your now going against this chosen ghost and trying to beat it. I doubt you'll get it on your first attempts, but whilst your still on the road, try to study the track as best as you can, or follow the ghost and try and copy what it does. Then when the time is right speed ahead of it and try and pull off the same move and shortcuts it uses for a chance in beating it.

With skill, luck and time, you should be able to beat the ghost you are going against with. But if you've tried so hard and you still cannot beat it, the best thing to do is to download a different ghost and see if you can beat that one, or try a completely different track. There's plenty to choose from.

Should you manage to beat the ghost, after the race you will get a message in which asks if you want to upload your ghost to the leaderboard. You must say "Yes" as you would waste a lot of time if you say No. Wait awhile and see if the ghost makes it to the leaderboard. If it does then you will get this achievement.

If the upload doesn't work, keep trying a few times just to be sure, make sure your still connected to XBox Live during this upload procedure. If you have tried many times and it fails, then the only other solution towards this is to choose a different track and try the whole process again. Not great when that happens.

Overall this achievement is still possible to obtain, but as pre-warned unless you know how to drive well in this game, or you've got some racing knowledge in gaming, this achievement will put your skills to the test since you are virtually playing with Pro Ghosts, rather than it being a breeze as it was in 2010.

If your planning on getting this achievement, I suggest you work on it sooner than later, because if you leave it too long, the difficulty for this achievement will eventually become impossible, making it un-obtainable in the future.

When the game was released in 2010 getting this achievement was very easy. But now it's really challenging.

Here's my guide:

First of all you need to download this game add-on from the Xbox Live Marketplace:

This package includes the best car in the game: The Lancia Delta S4 (#5 and #6 in WRC Group B Category). It'll take some time until you're familiar with it since the handling isn't that easy.

Secondly, you have to modify the game settings. I had autobreak 100% and everything (ESP, etc.) ON. Before you start a race you can change the settings of your car as well. For the Lancia Delta I changed "Gears" and "Contact Pressure" to 0% everything else default. That's the fastest setup for this car.

And then comes the hardest part: Find a track where you think you can beat the 10th place on the leaderboards. Download some ghosts (10th place) and see how good/bad you are compared to them. I'd also suggest going for harder tracks (e.g. Mexico) since there aren't that many people on the leaderboards compared to easy and short tracks such as New Zealand for example. Personally I got the achievement today in "Rally Japan" - "Iwanke 2".

Extra Note: Unfortunately this achievement is glitchy as well (in the bad way). Sometimes the achievement won't unlock even though you meet the requirements. This happened to me as well. I beat the 10th place on the leaderboards but the game still told me that my ghost wasn't got enough to be uploaded and I didn't get an achievement. Strangely enough when I looked at the leaderboards I found myself on 10th place. When I tried to download my ghost an error occured. Then I tried it again, beat myself a 2nd time but still the same problem. Afterwards I shut my Xbox 360 down, deleted all ghosts from my HDD, deleted the cache and beat my own record for the 3rd time, placed myself at #7 in the leaderboards and was finally able to unlock the achievement.

So I'd say make sure that you don't have any ghosts on your HDD and clear your cache when you're close at beating the 10th place and getting the achievement.

Update #1: You my need to be placed in the Top 9 = beat the 9th in the world in order to be able to upload your ghost properly. Beating the 10th place doesn't seem to work for everyone (anymore?), I think it's another bug.

Update #2: And it seems like many people got the achievement recently on "Rally Japan" - "Iwanke 2" (the place where I unlocked it; now I'm no longer in the top 10). So I'd suggest choosing another track since it's quite challenging to beat the top 9/10 times there by now.
