How to unlock the Omega Level Mutant achievement in X-Men: Destiny - Definitive Guide

As per Lady Evol's solution, you can play the first playthrough w/ a lower/easier difficulties and then choose "Continue" in the main menu. Choose X-treme and go to load the last level "Final Showdown" and simply finish it, all achievement about difficulties will unlocked.

This can makes your skip the 2nd playthrough on X-treme, but I find that there are still some issues about hard to fight with those MRD & the last two boss fight, here's some tips:

1/Before you start load the last level, replay the 1st challenge a few times to gain your X-ability bar full. IMPORTANT: Save your X-ability bar full till the fight w/ the Sentinel.

2/If you find the last level MRD are hard to deal with, try quit & load again. I find that sometimes the Stalker comes out earlier than usual, makes your fight almost cannot be done..

3/The 2nd fight w/ MRDs will have a bunch of alien look-a-like surround you and once you killed one of them the 4 corner will spawn 4 MRD uses projectiles attack. Equip Quicksilver/Northstar's defensive X-Gene, will help a little.

4/THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF MY GUIDE HERE. When you engaged the Sentinel, equip all Quicksilver's X-Gene & Suit, simply lose some health till near death, wait till the Sentinel puts 3 energy balls on the ground, use Quicksilver's X-Mode and rush into the energy balls and die. After the loading screen, you will find it Quicksilver's X-Mode still working. It will carry on till the fight w/ Bastion, the final boss.

Credits to Lady Evol about the faster way to unlock this achievement & to IGN Cheats (Where I find the way to slow Sentinel. Link: http://www.ign.com/cheats/games/x-men-destiny-ps3-88645)

Worked perfectly, thanks! I got this with the Emma Frost suit and X-genes equipped, then activated X-power and died from the chest beam attack. Came back with X-power permanently in effect.

Great guide, I beat the level easily on extreme, but quick question; I accidentally started my new game + on New Mutant and changing the difficulty doesnt net the achievement, so if I play through the whole campaign again in New Game + will it give me the option to change the difficulty again? If I have to replay the whole game again I'd rather use my leveled up character than start a new one.

Sounds like u did not overwrite the 1st save data?
Actually I don't remember how's the step goes, but I did something which makes me though f*cked up my save data and sounds like wt u did.
But I remember I did not play the story twice, just once.
Try load yr 1st save data, then it should be okay to choose continue again.

I also used Emma Frost for the final trick since after 3 playthroughs , multiple challenges replayed I never got Quicksilvers suit fully found somehow :/

SO if I do 2 playthroughs of the game on easy, will new game + show up after my second playthrough? I want to do the last level on xtreme then as right now I don't have the quicksilver full set unlocked so the boss is impossible. thanks.

Top Solution! MOst frustrating thing was trying to beat Sentinel in Slow mo (I used too used to full speed!), Bastion was an absolute breeze though!

i know it's an old solution, but it would be great if you add a warning about the possibility to mess up NG+ - i only checked your solution and made a huge mistake... my plan was to complete some challenges, but i picked continue and dashboarded... but i had no idea this would mess up my chance for only one playthrough. *sigh*

Worked just fine for me. +1 for the OP.

I didn't have Quicksilver's full suit so I went with Juggernaut. Don't know if it did any good for the Sentinel, but it sure didn't for Bastion. Died like 10 times at least. Switched over to Toad's suit and beat it the first time. Toad's toxic DoT worked pretty good.

If you played through this first on an easier mode, you can start a new game+ on Xtreme difficulty, then quit out, load your character, use mission select to choose the last level, and the other difficulties will pop after you finish the final battle. IMPORTANT: You need to start the game on Xtreme difficulty, and leave it there until you get the achievement. Otherwise, this will not work.

Edit- from liiami in the comments below:

"I would like to add once you hit continue, don't back out or dashboard as it will save as your previous difficulty and lose your chance to New Game+."

I've been playing on x-treme from the start and have yet to die. I'm only just met Gambit so it probably gets harder. I think I'll keep going but it I get stuck this should help. Thanks!

I can confirm that this is true! I played through on New Mutant difficulty, and when I fully upgraded, I played the last level on Xteme difficulty. When I beat it, both beating the game on Xtreme difficulyt and Xman difficulty achievements popped.

This oddly did not work for me. Though it may have been lost due to me changing the difficulty when I was farming for xp in challenges.

Yeah you can't change the difficulty at all when you reload a chapter. Just start thr new game plus on xtreme and reload the last level. Thanks a lot

Yes, possum, you're correct. I'm sorry if it was confusing. I changed it to make it more clear. :D

Monkey, it's more challenging as it goes on, but it's not overly difficult. I used this method just to avoid a 2nd playthrough. ^_^

By Sherman91587 on 16 Oct 2011 15:42
I don't think you can. To the best of my knowledge, you have to start the game and finish the last level on Xtreme difficulty, without changing the difficulty at all in between.

I had the same problem. Beat the first game on normal. Started new game plus on extreme, quit out of the first level and loaded and beat the last one. No achievement. I'm not really sure if I want to do this again. I'm really not found of this game.

Not sure about other regions, but for the USA version you have to pick continue not new game. I did new game and now have to play the whole game over again. Also may want to note what it shows above about pick xtreme and don't change anything or the glitch doesn't work.

1.New Game
2.Continue
3.Load Game

After you beat the game, choose continue, and it should tell you about ng+. Just make sure you choose the hardest difficulty, and don't change it!

I'm not sure why this wouldn't work for anyone... I did it for myself and my husband without any difficulty. Keep in mind you can NOT change the difficulty from when you start the game to when you finish it if you want the achievement. If you don't start it on xtreme difficulty, or you change it in the middle then change it back, you have to beat the game again, and try again with a NEW new game + file.

I found this out the hard way, luckily it only took about 1.5 hours to recomplete on easy, skipping all challenges etc

Fantastic tip. I played thru to the sentinel using wolverines suit & abilities, so I could get the healing factor and extra damage. I then swapped to quicksilvers suit and abilities and activated x mode, I died like guide says and when the checkpoint restarted everything was in slow motion and I had wolverines suit on with healing ability.

In order to obtain this achievement, you must complete the final level on X-Treme difficulty. The level must START on this difficulty in order for the achievement to unlock - you cannot change it at the end of the boss fight.

To beat the Boss on X-Treme, you must attack during the openings in his pattern. Upon landing, he will use these attacks, in this order (for the first two downs): Psylocke, Avalanche, Summon Enemies.

Use the time while he's flying around to defeat the regular enemies. They will be a source of health and refill your M Meter. Once he gets a new shield, sprint toward him then dash to the sides - he will use Avalanche. On the third shield he takes, he'll use Magma, which makes him stronger and more aggressive. Just be cautious and don't get greedy and you'll win.

Achievement should pop when the Sentinel's eyes turn off.

i found that the x-gene assists (all of mine were maxed out and fully leveled up) that worked best for me against bastian were the quicksilver offense (during the first two phases), cyclopse utility, colossis defense, and i dont know if the suits really help when you arent matching them; but i wore wolverine's just in case. i switched my offense to iceman during the third phase, when bastian was in his magma state. that seemed to deal a lot of damage to bastian in a hurry.

Simply complete the game on X-treme difficulty. X-treme difficulty is available from the start and finishing the game on X-treme difficulty will unlock all other difficulty related trophies. On X-treme mode, enemies will inflict slightly more damage but they take the same amount of damage to defeat as other lower difficulties. The only real trouble that you’ll face is the boss fights especially if you don't know their attack patterns when you first face them. The difficulty is also somewhat affected by your mutant's Core Iconic Power. Which power you've chosen during the Rally Attack will have an effect on your gameplay. If you're a melee fighter type mutant you might want to use Defensive X-genes that either increases health/armor (Colossus/Juggernaut) or a static dodging gene that's able to stun or knock-back enemies whenever you dodge (Surge/Juggernaut). If you're a range fighter type mutant you might want to use Utility X-Genes that either increase your M-Power Meter or a gene that will quickly help refill your M-Power Meter during combat (Cyclops/Emma Frost). Last of all, regardless of which type of Core Iconic Power that affected your mutant’s abilities, you'll want to use Offensive X-Genes that deals damage overtime or area damage (Iceman/Surge/Toad/Wolverine).

Some Tips:

  • Destroy power up crates to replenish your Health and M-Power meter
  • Improve your equipped X-Genes by spending XP
  • Equipping a completed X-Gene set and suit set will give you a bonus boost to statics by unleashing X-Mode
  • Find X-Genes to gain an advantage against enemies
  • Destroy Propaganda for extra XP towards your X-Genes and Mutant Powers
  • Find and complete Challenge Missions for extra XP
  • Parrying attacks will boost your M-Power meter
  • Memorize enemies and bosses attack patterns
  • Low on health at a certain checkpoint? Replay a Challenge Mission to refill your health from the Load menu
  • While fighting standard enemies the 1-2-3 hit combo and dodge is always effective.
  • Invulnerable mutant powers are a most have since you're immune to most damaging attacks.
  • Healing mutant powers are also a must have power.

It has been reported that this trophy can be unlocked by glitching it. I've tested this on my 2nd account and I can confirm that this glitch does indeed work. In order to perform the X-treme difficulty glitch you must do the following:

  1. Beat the game on either New Mutant or X-Man difficulty.
  2. At the main menu screen select Continue
  3. When given difficulty settings select X-treme
  4. When game loads simply press the button and select Quit and the select Yes to return to the main menu
  5. Now select Load Game, go to your mutant save file and Select Mission to load the final mission of Final Showdown
  6. Simply finish the entire mission and beat the final boss

This glitch was discovered by Solid_Fantasy.

my tip will help many who don’t want to complete the game on Extreme! do the following: go through the entire game on easy, then select CONTINUE in the main menu, then we will be asked to select the difficulty level of the new game, select Extreme, and as soon as the game is saved, press Start and select exit to the main menu, then select LOAD GAME in the main menu and already on your save where all the missions are open, select the last one, go through it all to the end and get a trophy! and you will also automatically receive a trophy for normal difficulty. WORKS 100% TESTED PERSONALLY!

Start playing right away at this level. The game is not difficult and short. The only moments where I had difficulties were the battle with Sublim, Sentinel and Bastion. I chose the first ability (obsidian knuckles) at the beginning of the game and in choosing fate I always made the first proposed choices (obsidian shards, obsidian skin, tremor). I completed the game quite comfortably with these abilities.
