How to unlock the Legendary Champion achievement in YAKUZA 3 - Definitive Guide

This is time consuming. You're gonna have to do a lot of fighting in a lot of matches. Tag matches are included. Just keep fighting and as you progress, new tournaments will emerge for you to pwn. You must beat each tournament 3 times to unlock the next. Except the Bomber GP which only needs one victory. It's pretty straightforward. For those having trouble finding all of the tag match partners, here is some help...

- Maxim Soldadov: You'll find him right out front of the coliseum after you defeat him inside.

- Bruce Ebinuma: Go the Earth Angel, a bar in the Champion District, and talk to the two guys in the back. Bruce will arrive and you can talk to him. You must win 50 battles on the streets and have beat Bruce in the coliseum.

- Daiji Hiyama: After defeating Daiji in the coliseum, and breaking 50 weapons in street battles, you'll find him in Smile Burger.

- Keigo Jinno: You'll find two guys in Mach Bowling. Talk to them, fight Keigo and he'll be waiting for you next time you're come to the coliseum. Talk to him again and he's set.

- Masayuki Hatae: You must play five full rounds in the batting cages. He'll be there when you do. That is unless the pro baseball player is there (he'll arrive if you get 1200pts in the hard cage).

As you progress, beat more new opponents, and win tournaments, the point exchange will get more new, cool items for you to exchange points for.

In recent tournaments with strong opponents, the combination helped (usually blocked by enemy) and grab on followed by a throw. If you are under pressure, up to two or three throws are enough to accumulate a HEAT strip and then use a super blow. After some time, opponents will begin to block your throws, here you can start using the counterattack combination R1 (hold) and press during an enemy attack. The only one who doesn’t throw himself over himself is a sumo wrestler, which in principle is logical but it is easy to catch him with combination number 2.
PS I never met Komaki during all the battles. I never even appeared on the list of fighters, probably I was lucky, and maybe he was too

I'll add. All tournaments can be completed no earlier than Chapter 12. Some tournaments open only at chapter 10, the last tournament opens at chapter 12.
Also, Komaki can get caught not in the fifth battle, but in any battle. Moreover, he may not get caught at all. If you don’t want to waste your nerves and time on what is frankly the strongest opponent of the coliseum, just select a tournament and look at the list of its participants. If Komaki is among them, press cancel and select again. This way I avoided fighting with him. It really works.

Another key to victories is counterpunching. Not the one from the block, but the one in the triangle combat stance. It removes the lion's share of the enemy's health, and if you act quickly, you can also beat a falling enemy, causing him just hellish damage.
The blow is made while the enemy is striking. You just have to stand in a fighting stance and wait. If it seems that the enemy has started to hit, press triangle. If the counterattack does not go through, then the opponent will receive a kick in the belly and stop his strike.
