How to unlock the Master in Training achievement in Yakuza 4 Remastered - Definitive Guide

Once in Chapter 4 of Part 2 (when you play as Saejima) you will be taken to a martial arts dojo and have the Fighter Maker minigame explained to you. What you need to do is have one of your recruits train up and ultimately complete the tournament.

This can be most quickly accomplished with your first recruit, Hideo Sugiyama. As with so many other achievements for this series, CyricZ has fantastic guide for leveling up Hideo here: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/239456-yakuza-4-remastered....

I recommend to SAVE between each training session as there is an RNG aspect to each fight. My first match I lost four times in a row before finally winning, so having a save to reload is invaluable.

True to the comments below, if you are going just for the achievement, you can truncate the steps in the guide to around step 26. You should be strong enough to finish the tournament by then. You only need to keep going on in rank if you intend to max out the dojo, which not required for any achievements.

POTENTIAL BUG: After finishing the tournament with Hideo, the achievement did not pop for me. I reloaded and tried once more, still nothing. Finally, I closed the game and turned off my Xbox One. Later that day, I turned it back on and the achievement popped as soon as I logged in to my profile. Others on PSN forums have encountered this same bug, so save, save, save between each bout.

For reference you can expect it to take around 20 Turns.

To add on to Dubstep’s comment and add just a note about CyricZ’s guide for this mini game, he writes it with the intent that you’re gonna complete the entire mode. If you’re just here for the achievement, you don’t need to care about saving and trying to win every fight. Follow his guide to like turn 26 and you should have sufficient stats to win the tournament, regardless if you win matches on the way.

Just spam stretches to get a high mood and rest for stamina and you should be good to go. You should only need like one or two heat moves (one ASAP and one to end the fight) and your guy will do the rest.

Text guide (en), according to which you just need to follow the training plate.
I also advise you to save before each battle because the fighters there are random and can take out your student in 10 seconds. It is also worth using Heat actions, despite the fact that the student’s trust is lost - I used it at every opportunity and in case of victory it did not matter, and there is also a perk that reduces the loss of trust. Somewhere after 25-28 training sessions, you can start the Tournament; if you follow the table, the student will be pumped up to the maximum. There are three fights in a row and if you win, the trophy is yours.
