How to unlock the Launch Striker achievement in Yakuza 5 Remastered - Definitive Guide

You get this move in Part 3, Chapter 3 while playing as Akiyama. As you're leaving Dyna Chair, Saigon will show up, and you play the tutorial for the Launch Strike. Get heat, hold cn_LT (in case you're near something but in the tutorial I don't think it matters) and press cn_Y., immediately followed by button mashing cn_X.

While you can technically get this achievement during chapter 3, you would need to make sure enemy health is lower since you need to defeat the enemy during the combo.

That is why it is better to wait until Chapter 4 when you run into Tatsuya, the food trainer so you can overcharge your health. Here are the restaurants you need to eat at:

Komian
Zuboraya
Kani Douraku

Now, return to him and suggest the three restaurants, then eat somewhere to max the overcharge. Return to Saigon and do Suicidal running. Chase him down to finish him off to unlock Total Suicidal Running. If you lost your overcharge (you'll need it), eat at a restaurant (don't bother with healing items since those don't work on overcharge).

Now, chase Saigo down again. The catch: This time he and his men are throwing grenades, which is why you needed to overcharge your health (you can't heal). Use cn_LB or cn_RB to quick step out of the way and cn_RT to make it easier to round corners. While you can use cn_B to throw bottles at him, catching up to him and hitting him with them does more damage. Now, finish him off.

Why did you go through all that? Because completing Total Suicidal Running unlocks LAUNCH STRIKE PLUS! Now Launch Strike lasts longer (twice as long if I'm not mistaken), making it far easier to finish off enemies with the combo. You slam them on the ground and they bounce back up, allowing you to continue the combo.

NOTE: I highly recommend completing the trainings for laughs.

If you need help completing any of Saigo's trainings, you can check out CyricZ's walkthrough here: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/239457-yakuza-5-remastered...

Excellent rundown!

Just like to add one point for those of you who feel like they killed way more than 50 guys with no achievement pop: when you move to New Game+ for your Legend playthrough, the counter will reset to ZERO so you must do 50 from scratch. This probably applies to all the characters but I am sure it applies to Akiyama. I'm not sure if the reset applies when transferring to Premium Adventure, but to be on the safe side and avoid yourself a lot of hassle, grind this out on one save file if you can.

I personally recommend only using Launch Strike when an enemy’s close to death regardless of if you have the extender or not: it’s a much more efficient strategy in regards to Heat management.

If you're like me and finished the game to near completion and still don't have this, doing the Ultimate Matches to grant the War God Talisman makes farming this go much more smoothly (as it does for farming the heat actions that you have not gotten).

This technique is learned from Saigo during his first training. When the Heat gauge is full, you need to press triangle near the enemy and, after throwing him into the air, kick him with your feet using a square. Nothing complicated. The main thing is not to do this near walls or pillars, because... Akiyama has finishing moves in these areas.
To make this technique easier, hold during the battle, then heat finishing moves simply will not appear and you can hit enemies anywhere with a triangle.
