How to unlock the Top Ten achievement in Yakuza 5 Remastered - Definitive Guide

For this achievement, you must get to the coliseum and reach the top 10 rank out of the 52 there are (48 opponents and the 4 main male characters). The coliseum can only be accessed once you reach Kamurocho near the end of the game but you cannot compete in Coliseum tournaments until you've completed the victory road preliminaries as each character. Kiryu and Saejima have 3 preliminaries and Akiyama and Shinada have 4. You can track how many you have done as that character through the coliseum completion list. The basic of victory road is in the character-specific city you'll fight people in specific outfits like Karate GI's and when they try to fight you the game will say Victory Road challenger. After you've defeated a few of them a man in a black jacket hat and sunglasses will approach you basically saying he's had his eyes on you to compete in the tournament. After you've gotten that dialogue fight more challengers and you'll see a white exclamation point on the map much like the sub-story marker. Go to the marker and you'll be challenged by somebody. Just win the fight against the special challenger and do that a few more times in that city and the guy with sunglasses will come back saying you completed the qualifiers and that the next time you meet it will be in a place underneath Kamurocho. For more info about Victory Road use this guide https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/239457-yakuza-5-remastered...

(Note: what I'm about to talk about is how to make farming coliseum points easier for every character easier and will take a while and is required if you're going for the 100%. If you just want the achievement and not gonna bother with the 100% completion list you can ignore this and just skip to the very bottom of the solution for the alternative.)

Now do the Victory Road qualifiers for all the other characters so that Kiryu can unlock an event in Kamurocho to unlock a tournament that will make this achievement easier. Once you're controlling Kiryu in Kamurocho after finishing all of the qualifiers as every character go to purgatory and enter the coliseum. Once there you'll see Raiden a big guy wearing red with a scar on his face you've probably have seen once or twice already while exploring Kamurocho. After that go back up to the streets of Kamurocho. If you have already fought him and won against him once or twice an exclamation point will appear on the map right below Bantam. If you have not faced him yet you will have to go find him and fight him shouldn't be too hard to spot him in the crowd. After you've seen the cutscene below Bantam the coliseum announcer will say the finals are about to begin. You cannot do the next part until you've gotten to the final chapter where you can play as any character if you go to Serena. If you are past that part you have to go to the Coliseum as Kiryu and before talking to the guy behind the desk save your game since this is your only chance to ever do this tournament and if you fail it you will not be able to unlock the tournament which we need to make this achievement easier along with the fact that you cannot finish the 100% list. I don't know how much armor really matters in coliseum but put on your best armor like antique mail or dragon mail (if you've done the minigame/weapon modding completion list). After saving your game go talk to the guy behind the counter and say you're ready. After saying you're ready you'll be talking with the other main characters about how Kiryu must win the tournament. Fighting against Akiyama, Shinada, and Saejima 1v1 isn't much of a problem since Kiryu is already a strong character and if you have learned Tiger Drop from Komaki's grandson it makes these fights easy. After you've defeated all 3 of them you'll now face Raiden. If you know how to effectively Tiger Drop this fight shouldn't give you too much of a problem. If you're not good at it or just terrible with timing you can always do the age-old trick of just when he attacks quick step and try to get behind him and do a quick combo to do some easy damage. Most of his attacks can be blocked but he has one unblockable attack to where he charges up his attacks and hits you with his right hand.

Now that you've beaten Victory Road the coliseum you should have 5 tournaments unlocked. For the easiest way to grind we're gonna use the Heat Bomber Grand Prix. Before you start doing the tournaments we're gonna manipulate the game a bit. The coliseum rankings are based on points and depending on the person you beat will determine how many points you get. If you defeat someone who is a low or middle of the leaderboard you'll earn very few points from them. If you defeat someone that's high up on the leaderboard you'll earn a lot more points. So now you know how the rankings work we're gonna just be fighting top rank people more specifically we're gonna fight Sotaro Komaki since he has only 2 health bars and when you beat him you'll earn a lot of points. So click A on the Heat Bomber tournament and if you don't get Sotaro Komaki hit B to back out of the opponent screen then click A on that tournament again. You will be doing that for a while until you get Sotaro Komaki as your opponent. This tournament will drop bombs that have color-coded timers (Blue->Yellow->Red->Blue) that will do massive damage to anybody in the radius of the bomb. If another bomb is nearby the one exploding will cause a chain reaction and do even more damage. So the general strategy to this is mostly just to get Komaki near the bomb when it's about to explode and then run away. Sometimes Komaki will pick up the bombs and most of the time it will just explode in his hand or he will try to throw it at you. Now just keep doing this strategy till you reach the top 10. This is the easiest strategy to get to the top 4 to unlock the last tournament for both Akiyama and Shinada if you're going for the 100% completion list since trying to do coliseum normally with them can be a big time waster or to some players will be seen as too hard.

The other strategy you can do if you don't want to do the final Victory Road tournament is to do Breakout Grand Prix. This tournament requires you to be rank 30 or higher to unlock and the gimmick with this tournament is that it's a 1v1 but you can break the cage and knock enemies off the stage to instantly win. It's gonna be the same strategy of going after higher rank opponents mostly going after the top 4 people and just try to win by knocking them off the ledge. This can easily be done by Saejima since his attacks do more damage and can send people further if a combo lands along with his herculean spirit skill which if he has his heat past a certain point he can no longer be interrupted during the combo. You can also try to Komaki parry them off the ledge if you wanna try that as well.

I’ve beat komaki multiple times, but still gain very few points, maybe they fixed it

What rank was he? Depending on his rank sometimes calculates into how many points you get.

Also, it's still faster to just fight Komaki this way and earn points this way than to try to fight the others legitimately as characters like Akiyama or Shinada.

I wanted to do this with Kiryu so that I could just spam Tiger Drop. I skipped Victory Road, did about 9 matches of Maximum Grand Prix until Breakout GP unlocked and then won 20 matches of that before my achievement unlocked. I only picked Breakout because it's one-round matches and I just refreshed until someone in the top 10 was my opponent.
I only knocked someone out of the ring once - I just used Tiger Drop and heat actions and the matches didn't last long. Altogether it took me a little under 2 hours, I think

Not difficult, but tedious. I advise you to use Kiryu’s counterstrike more often (In a combat stance, a triangle during an enemy strike). It simply removes a wild amount of health from the enemy. And those who are not knocked back can be hit so many times and the fight will be very short.
It is also advisable to learn the ability to heal by pressing R3+L3 when your health is low. Often this is very helpful.

The most difficult thing will be in the tournament, which opens at rank 4, since there you will have a small amount of health right away, plus there will be 13 waves of enemies.

Kiryu won't be a problem, he knows how to heal with + . So don't waste Heat and heal whenever possible.

Shinada is a little more difficult, since he does not have the features like Kiryu or Saejima, but he can also be healed by +

Akiyama will be the most difficult test, since he does not know how to heal. He has one feature in which while he is in Heat he is immortal, but the downside is that you need to be level 25 + get 8 orbs in IF8 in Kamurocho, since this skill is very far in leveling up.

Saejima does not have healing and immortality in Heat, but he has huge damage to the crowd and an ability in which he cannot get stuck or fall in Heat and receives slightly reduced damage, so it will be easier than Akiyama

It's easier to do like:
  • get to rank 30, after which the Breakout SP battle opens (a ring in which walls can be broken)
  • when you select a battle, your opponent is shown to you - do not choose just any, but specific ones, namely the top 3-4 of the rating table. They change rarely, and one fighter is not immediately available (Raiden).
  • break the wall quickly, then take the enemy (circle or B on the gamepad) and throw him into the abyss
  • repeat until top10 and top4 (this will take a lot of time)
