Grotos boss is the 2nd boss at chapter 3. After several trial and error, below is my strategy.
1. Jump top right with dash to avoid it's attack first.
2. Dash when it stop at left side. Smash A button (destroy 1/3 health)
3. Jump with dash to avoid it's attack again and dash to the right side and smash A button, if you didn't get hurt, just keep smash and the boss should die before you.

This boss can be cheesed!
You can run through him and stand "in" him and attack when he stands still on one side. He won't be able to hit you (you can still be stunned). His range attacks misses too. You should be able to kill him before he starts running to the other side.
