How to unlock the False Detective achievement in A Hat in Time - Definitive Guide

Progress through the level normally and skip picking up any of the clues. Certain doors in the level will set the clock forward 10 minutes, and checking just about every room in the level will insure it completes. When you get to the "final room" (the one showing the anatomy of Hat Kid) just turn your tookis around and leave, 10 minutes should advance.

Big Note: When you enter the room where the voice on the phone tells you to save the dog, don't do it. Just leave. This room 100% works against progress towards this particular achievement, and despite what the guy tells you, time does not advance. Saving the dog and talking to it afterwards will automatically get you a clue, so don't bother.

I saved the dog and still was able to get this, I think as long as you aren’t directly on top of it you won’t pick up the clue.

just do not pick up any of the 2d classified files on the map the dog instantly gives you one so just enter then leave for the time to change, also when you get to the final room you do not need to pick that one up just turn around and leave and the time will end. if you pick up any clues you unfortunately have to start the level completely over again.

Chapter Two, Act Two: Murder on the Owl Express

Upon making your way to the front of the train, you will find a present box with the Detective Hat inside. Immediately wearing it will signal a phone call from the nearby phone, letting you know your dear father's sister (which is the name you gave the CAWs or AUNTIE by default) is waiting for you in the back of the train. When you get there, a murder has been committed and it is up to you to find the culprit!

That being said, this trophy kind of goes against it. Littered throughout the train, as you scurry from the back across previously inaccessible rooms, are CONFIDENTIAL folders that contain the clues you need to accuse someone. Each folder will give you a new suspect to incriminate, but you need to avoid all of them and go through the discovery of each room as if you were initially looking for them. The timer doesn't clock down constantly; only when you enter/exit specific rooms in search of the clues will it count down. That means that, in order to complete the act, you must still make it all the way to the locked KEEP OUT room that is in the heart of the train, guarded by the rest of the CAWs. By exiting this room without getting the folder, you will be taken back to the crime scene and will be able to accuse one person, giving you the trophy as well as finishing the act with a low score.

In the opposite to True Detective, you need to make your way around the train without picking up a single folder!

Throughout Act 2 of Battle of the Birds, you will hunt for clues to solve the "murder" on the train. Time advances as you enter and exit specific rooms. Picking up every clue as you go will net you "False Detective." However, to unlock this achievement, you will need to not pick up a single clue. The achievement will unlock upon choosing a suspect to frame. Refer to the video links below on how to approach both achievements.
