How to unlock the One Punch achievement in A Hat in Time - Definitive Guide

Update - Patched in 2021

The Ice Hat has been patched to only block 2 attacks before breaking and needing to be recharged. This prevents it from being used freely as seen in the video. It can still help occasionally if needed, but can't be relied upon to carry the fight anymore.


There is an incredibly easy way to get this achievement without needing to acquire/use the Time Stop Hat and allows you to dodge 90% of the boss' attacks without even moving. The only requirement is the Ice Hat which should be unlocked early on.

Equip the 1-Hit Hero badge and start the mafia boss fight. Using the Ice Hat will protect you from nearly all but one of his attacks. When the mafia underling comes in from the left and charges the stage you'll need to jump over him. After that it's clear sailing.

If you do have the Time Stop Hat I would advise using it as well to help if you have trouble for any reason. (Such as dodging the one attack that can't be defended against)

Just as an additional thing, this level is Mafia Town Act 4: Down with the Mafia!

But great guide, got it not on my first try, but didn't take very long at all.

Patched. Ice Hat will break after 2 hits from the charge attacks. Can't just sit there like shown in the video anymore.

Hi guys !

For this achievement you'll need to defeat any boss with the 1-hit hero badge.With this badge you'll die if you take any hit.It costs 500 emeralds at any vendor.The easiest one is the Mafia Boss (Chapter 1 - Act 4)

Here's my video to show you how to defeat him without taking any damage :)

First: Buy the One-Hit Hero Badge from the Badge Seller for 500 Pons.

Next: Decide the boss that you wish to take on. I'd recommend the first, the Mafia Don, of Chapter One.

After making your way through the hideout and coming across the stretch, make sure you pause before encountering him to make sure the badge is equipped. Even though it will still show you with four energy, you will only have one chance before you will die if you are hit.

The Don has a simple attack pattern, classified in five attacks. They are:


By delivering the killing blow (with everything turning red temporarily), the trophy should pop up.

The first boss is the one you should do it on since he has the least health. Best advice is mesmerize patterns and the tells from the boss. Video by Pyr0n1c if you need any visual help.

*Sorry for those wondering you can replay boss battles just replay the finale chapter, and any world/level, on whatever world you want to do again*

As the description states, you must have the 1-hit hero badge on before you attempt a boss. You can buy this badge from the merchant for 500 gems. The easiest boss to do this on is probably the final boss of Mafia Town. Make sure to have it on before you approach the boss, otherwise it will not count.

Seems to be glitched since the next gen/DLC Update.
The Snatcher Boss (Chapter 3 Act 6) and Barrel Battle won't unlock this Achievement.
I did it with Toilet of Doom. (Chapter 3 Act 3)

If you're having problems, I found using the Time Stop Hat (to slow everything down) and the Fast Hatter Badge (to have near-instantaneous cooldown on the Time Stop Hat) makes the boss battles a lot easier.

The 1 hit-hero badge can be bought for 500 pons from the Badge Seller once you've collected 6 Time Pieces. This badge does what it says on the tin, if you get touched once - you die! The easiest boss to do this with is the boss in Mafia town as he has the simplest pattern of attacks to learn. I would suggest leaving this until you've got the Time Stop Hat (the yarn for it will be found in the Alpine Skyline chapter) because being able to slow time down during some of his attacks is very useful. I'm unsure if this matters or not but I would suggest equipping the badge before starting the level and not attaching it mid-boss battle.

It seemed to me easiest to do on the boss toilet in Chapter 3 (Toilet of Doom).
We put on the Time Stop Hat and Fast Hatter Badge.
