This can be earned as soon as you unlock Exstinguis ammo at the start of Chapter 3. This new ammo type can be combined with the slingshot or pots to extinguish fires from a distance. During the course of 15 chapters in-game it's highly likely you'll unlock this naturally.
However, if you're anything like me and want this achievement done and dusted, you can get it right there and then! During the Exstinguis tutorial take out the first and second guard. As you reach the third guard the brazier you stand beside is checkpointed. In Chapter 3, A Burden of Blood, you will learn the alchemic recipe Exstinguis. This happens in part 3 of the chapter, Rodric's tool. With this item you can extinguish flames from a distance. For this trophy you need to extinguish 40 flames. The trophy is cumulative. I played the first game and started “new game+” on the same save - in chapter 4 or 5 the trophy dropped. You don't have to bother with restarting chapters to knock them out on your first playthrough.
