How to unlock the Home Run achievement in A Way Out - Definitive Guide

Chapter: Preparation - Reunion

Upon reaching the trailer park, you should notice some guys playing baseball. You'll want to have one of the players start batting and the other to start pitching. You'll need to hit a "home run" which should register around 180 points. Just aim for the middle of the screen and work on your timing. The characters will mention a home run if you had enough distance and the achievement will unlock for the batter. Switch places for the other person to grab their achievement.

NOTE: Achievements are only available to owners of the game. Players using the "Free Trial" friend pass will NOT unlock achievements.

When we did it he got his achievement at 179

I got a 176 and he said "to the moon" and it unlocked.

After leaving the farm you will arrive in a dump of an area and to the right you will see two people playing baseball just go over to them and take over the bat and ball. Then try and hit a home run.

Each player has to do this to unlock the achievement

Mission: Reunion

In the trailer park area when you are looking for your wife, there will be two men playing baseball. Take the bat from the one man and hit the baseball thrown at you. Tap cn_RT when he lets go and you should be good and get the achievement.

This video guide contains all achievements / trophies in A Way Out in chronological order. Nothing is missable, you can redo anything via chapter select and unless written otherwise, both players earn the achievement / trophy at the same time (They can only be earned with a full copy of the game, not the free friend pass). This game can only be played with 2 players, there is no Singleplayer mode.

#1 The Dip - 0:25
Chapter: Escape - The Yard
Leo must do 20 Dips in a row on the prison yard.

#2 Freedom - 1:29
Chapter: Escape - Prison Escape
Free the Caged Parrot in the Warden's Office.

#3 Take a Breather - 2:49
Chapter: Fugitives - Breather
At the start of the chapter walk to the right. There's a rock both players need to sit on to enjoy the view.

#4 In Sync - 3:49
Chapter: Fugitives - The Farmstead
Go into the house of the old couple. Vincent must play the piano and Leo the Banjo. Each player must hit 20 notes in a row without missing a single one. If one player messes up you have to get another 20 correct notes.

#5 Timeless Treasure - 5:11
Chapter: Fugitives - The Farmstead
Go into the house of the old couple. On the ground floor is a clock, both players need to interact with it at the same time. This opens a secret door upstairs, go into that hidden room to pick up a sword from the chest.

#6 Take it for a Spin - 6:03
Chapter: Fugitives - The Farmstead
Climb the windmill and interact with it a few times to spin it up.

#7 No Cheating - 7:03
Chapter: Preperation - Reunion
Talk to the woman with the baseball bat in the starting area of the chapter. Then go to the trailer to her right side to find her husband. Then talk to her again to get the trophy.

#8 You Started It - 8:19
Chapter: Preperation - Reunion
Both players need to sit on the swing set at the same time.

#9 Home Run - 9:16
Chapter: Preperation - Reunion
At start of chapter, head to the right. There's a guy with a baseball bat. Talk to him and then try to hit a Home Run. Swing the bat as soon as the pitcher starts the throw-animation. You must hit the ball in a straight line over the fence really far away. Only unlocks for the player getting the home run, the 2nd player has to do it again.

#10 Backseat Mechanic - 9:58
Chapter: Preperation - Reunion
Vincent must bring a Wrench to the woman repairing a bike. Then help her start the bike. Leo should stay inside the trailer until the trophy pops and not progress any further (unlocks for both players).

#11 Managed Anger - 11:23
Chapter: Preperation - Violent Questioning
Talk to the guy on the chair and choose to push back the chair. Leo must then pick the purse from the table, drop it on the floor, and lean over the table. Vincent must then use an object to torture the guy which triggers a dream sequence.

#12 Live the Dream - 12:58
Chapter: Preperation - A Nie Life
After riding the elevator both players must sit on the couch in front of the TV. Watch TV until Leo falls asleep.

#13 Break from Reality - 14:16
Chapter: Vengeance - Lift Off
Both players need to play the arcade at start of chapter.

#14 Mayday! - 14:38
Vengeance - Lift Off
Leo has to interact with the Helicopter at start of chapter.

Note: Only the player hitting the Home Run will unlock the trophy. So if playing online, you will have to take turns so your partner gets an opportunity to achieve this trophy too.

Chapter Select: Preparation - Reunion
Trophy unlocks for both players? No, you both need to do it individually

After fleeing from the police, you'll be in the Reunion section of this chapter where you'll be tasked with the following objective:

  • Find Leo's family (Vincent) | Find your family (Leo)


Ignore the above objectives and do the all the trophy requirements around this trailer park before searching for Leo's family.

For this trophy, you'll need to hit a home run while playing Baseball. You will find two people playing baseball nearby the trailer that the cheating husband was in for the No Cheating trophy. The player going for the trophy needs to take the baseball bat from the guy who has the bat. He will give it to you and then you can hit the baseball being thrown at you by the NPC. (Optional: your co-op partner can ask for the baseball from the other guy and throw it). Either method you choose will work as long as you hit a home run by getting a score of about 175-200. Anywhere over 175+ should unlock the trophy for the player who is swing the baseball bat.

If you're playing online or local co-op, be sure to let your partner get a chance to unlock the trophy because the trophy won't unlock for them until they also achieve a 175+ home run score.

If you've pushed the dumpster to trigger a cutscene with Leo's family, then you've gone too far and will need to use Chapter Select.

Chapter: Preparation - The Reunion

Once you reach the trailer park, you will find two guys playing baseball. Have each player talk to someone different, then one will take control of pitching while the other will take control of the bat. You need to a hit a home run for the trophy to unlock. I found it easiest to have the person controlling the pitcher count down from three before pitching the ball, avoid putting any spin on the ball to make this easier for the player controlling the batter. The game will mention you hit a home run if you managed to hit the ball far enough. Each player must take turns getting the home run in order for the trophy to unlock for both players.

This unlocks during the chapter ‘Preparation: Reunion’.

When you arrive at the trailer park after the boat sequence, ignore the objectives. Walk around the trailer park and you will see two men playing baseball. Have each character walk up to the men and ask if they can take a turn. When you’re all set up with one character pitching and the other one hitting, press to pitch and to swing. If the person swinging hits the ball at least 175 feet (points), the achievement will unlock. Keep trying until it unlocks.

For both players to get this achievement, you need to switch positions.

Note: If you’ve moved the dumpster and continued to Leo’s trailer before unlocking this, you’ve missed your opportunity and need to restart the chapter. You can also unlock both “You Started It” and “No Cheating” in this same scene.

You need to play baseball in the trailer park, the baseball field is to the right of the workshop. You need to score 180 points.
