The threshold I believe is 150000 (I got it at about 178000).
The first time it asked me whether I wanted to upload my score I said no, and then it didn't prompt me again. I cleared the scores by pressing
and going to Game Settings selecting the "Reset scores and rankings" option, and the next game I played and died on (the 178000 one) after I entered my initials I was prompted to upload my score, I selected yes, then the achievement popped.

You’ll get this trophy during your original mode playthrough, since you’ll be going for 300,000 points and will easily be eligible to upload a high score. To upload your score, beat the game or get a game over with a high enough score and a notification box will pop up asking if you would like to upload your record. Simply press 
and the trophy will pop after a few seconds.
