How to unlock the Bird Of Prey achievement in ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN - Definitive Guide
To unlock this achievement you have to shoot down all of the named 'ace' enemies in the game. Those are the planes that have a nickname next to their usual designation (for example SU-33 IBIS, with IBIS being the name).
Unlike some of the previous games in the series, where the ace airplanes would just spawn at predetermined spots on the map during the mission, this time you have to fulfill a specific requirement to make them spawn and then find them and shoot them down.
This can be done on any difficulty except for Easy. If you have difficulties fulfilling certain requirements, I recommend waiting until you can afford to buy an SU-57 with PLSL laser cannons. Once you learn how to use them (very similar to machine guns but with practically unlimited range outside of clouds), they can take out packs of both airborne and ground targets with ease.
You can view the specific requirements in the in-game data viewer, and here is a more detailed guide you can refer to, made by the fine people at the Ace Combat wiki (http://acecombat.wikia.com/wiki/Ace_Combat_7:_Skies_Unknown/...).
Importantly, the aces may vanish and not respawn if you happen to reload a checkpoint before shooting them down (or after shooting them down, but before reaching the next checkpoint), so ideally you want to shoot down the ace and clear the mission in one go without using checkpoints at all.

I'm halfway through, just got Chasseur and Ibis. Found this YouTube playlist that helped immensely for getting the SAMs quickly to trigger Louveteau's appearance in Transfer Orders.

Anyone else having trouble with bayonet? (Mission 3). I’ve finished the first part with 18:37 and 18:36 on the clock and both times he didn’t spawn on normal.
UPDATE: Using the F-22 with QAAMs wouldn't make him spawn. I changed to the X-02S with 4AAMs and he spawned after I finished the first stage with 18:33 left.

I prefer text guides so I can quickly find what I need instead of loading and watching a video while scanning ahead.

Spawning the named aircraft in this game is much different from how it was done in previous entries in the series. In this game you need to perform a certain action in each mission to trigger the named aircraft to spawn. For time based requirements, restart the mission rather than the checkpoint, as well as for the F-15C FANG, as the planes may not spawn if using a checkpoint. These aircraft will not spawn on your first playthrough of the campaign, as well as if you are playing on Easy difficulty so keep that in mind. To check you progress on this, go to DATA VIEWER > CAMPAIGN DATA > ASSAULT RECORDS
The named aircraft are:
The named aircraft are:
- MiG-21 PYRO- Mission 1: “Charge Assault,” destroy the third wave of enemies at once with the 4AAM, 6AAM, or 8AAM. The plane will spawn from the northwest with the fourth wave of bombers.
- MiG-29 JESTER- Mission 2: “Charge the Enemy,” destroy the control tower before the UAV’s spawn in. The plane will spawn on the runway after the UAV’s spawn.
- F-16C BAYONET- Mission 3: “Two-Pronged Strategy,” destroy at least 7 aircraft within 100 seconds in the first part of the mission. The plane will spawn in the northwest corner of the map after the UAV’s spawn.
- F-15J RONIN- Mission 4: “Rescue,” Fly under 200 meters until radio silence is lifted after passing through the radar network. The plane will spawn in the northeast corner of the map after the cutscene and will flee west.
- F-15C FANG- Mission 5: “444,” take at least 51% damage before your weapons are enabled. The plane will spawn in the middle of the map after shooting down the first three bombers.
- F-14D KITTEN- Mission 6: “Long Day,” fly through the tunnel in the northern base. The plane will spawn in the southeast corner of the map.
- TYPHOON FAUCON- Mission 7: “First Contact,” destroy all non-targets in the first part of the mission. The plane will spawn in the north of the map.
- F-15E GAZELLE- Mission 8: “Pipeline Destruction,” destroy all oil tanks and facilities before time runs out. The plane will spawn in with the UAV’s in the second phase.
- F/A-18F SPIDER- Mission 9: “Faceless Soldier,” destroy at least half of the non-target enemies before destroying all radar towers. The plane will spawn in the middle of the map.
- GRIPEN E LOUVETEAU- Mission 10: “Transfer Order,” Destroy all SAMs in a short amount of time (no exact amount of time). The plane will spawn with the 3 Mir-2000’s in the east towards the end of the first phase.
- SU-33 IBIS- Mission 11: “Fleet Destruction,” fly through the long gap in the platforms in either the northern or western sections. The plane will spawn on the aircraft carrier and flee northward (will not spawn if the fleet is destroyed).
- RAFALE M CHASSEUR- Mission 11: “Fleet Destruction,” destroy all fighter jets on the northern platform before they take off. The plane will spawn directly ahead of the player.
- SU-34 WALRUS- Mission 12: “Stonehenge Defensive,” prevent Stonehenge from taking any damage from bombers or ground units. The plane will spawn in with the group of helicopters.
- MIR-2000-5 FOUDRE- Mission 12: “Stonehenge Defensive,” fly underneath any of the inactive railguns. The plane spawns south of you.
- A-10C BUFFLE- Mission 12: “Stonehenge Defensive,” destroy the three A-10’s coming from the east. The plane spawns in the southwest of the map.
- MiG-31 COMET- Mission 13: “Bunker Buster,” destroy all missile silos in under 6 minutes or so (time not exact). The plane spawn in flying away to the south after the mission update.
- SU-47 GADFLY- Mission 14: “Cape Rainy Assault,” Fly through the canyon in a short amount of time. The plane will spawn in with the SU-35S’s later in the mission.
- SU-37 SERPENT- Mission 15: “Battle for Farbanti,” earn 17,000 points in the first part of the mission. The plane will spawn in the middle of the map when only 5 minutes remain.
- F-2A BOGEN- Mission 15: “Battle for Farbanti,” Destroy the Aegis Ashore near that spawns on land near the end of the mission. The plane will spawn to the south and attempt to flee south.
- SU-35S AXEMAN- Mission 16: “Last Hope,” earn 10,000 points. The plane will spawn in the southeast of the city and will be marked as UNKNOWN.
- F-35C MANTIS- Mission 17: “Homeward,” fly very close to the mass driver rail from end to end in the first part of the mission. The plane will spawn with the bombers and fighters.
- YF-23 LYNX- Mission 18: “Lost Kingdom,” destroy all enemies en route to the castle and reach it in under 3 minutes. The plane will spawn slightly north of the castle as soon as you are near it.
- SU-57 CALAMITY- Mission 19: “Lighthouse,” earn 17,000 points in the first part of the mission. The plane will hold position slightly outside the out of bounds line to the south of the map. Bring in long range weaponry to take it down. The plane is stealth so you will need to be close to it to see it.
- F-22A TEMPEST- Mission 19, “Lighthouse,” earn 20,000 points in the first part of the mission. The plane spawns southwest of the space elevator.

Only 24 Ace aircraft! they appear at a difficulty level not lower than Standard/Normal and when performing certain actions. In the 3rd mission, at the beginning you need to shoot down all the planes in 90 seconds, etc.

You can always check whether or not you shot down the plane you need by going after completing the mission to the “archive” - “archive of company victories”.
Well, in general, at the end of the mission you should be given the paint job of the damaged aircraft.

24 aces aircraft appear only if the conditions are met, the difficulty arose in mission 19: the Su57 Calamiti aircraft appears after gaining points over 17,000 in the south at the very bottom, you need to fly along the red line and be prepared to hit the target, more often it appears behind the red line and flies away
