ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN

Medals are in-game awards you receive for completing certain goals or tasks. You can receive them in the campaign or in multiplayer. However, to simplify the guide, I am only focusing on campaign medals.

The wording for this achievement is a little awkward, but it unlocks when you have 5 medals.

Medals can be viewed from the main page under "Campaign Data" and then in "Campaign Medals". You can also keep track of your data under "Kill Count".

One of the things that makes the medals hard to know how to earn is the very vague descriptions that are given such as "Awarded to pilots who deal devastating damage to enemy forces" or something similar. However, as said above, there are some pretty specific requirements to getting them. There are a total of 26 campaign medals, so instead of listing them all, I will include a link to the medals page at Acepedia. At the link, you can read the descriptions for campaign and multiplayer medals.

For this guide, I am making two assumptions: 1) You are an average to good player, 2) You are reading this guide only for this particular achievement. I apologize if you are neither of those.

Again, for simplification I'm simply showing you the 5 medals that I have since I'm only an average player and I didn't find these particularly difficult to earn.

Bronze Ace - Destroy 1000 enemies: With a normal run through of the campaign, you should get this before completing the story.
Ship of Liberty - Sink 100 enemy ships: Complete the main story and then replay Mission 11 "Fleet Destruction". I used the F/A-18 with Long Range Anti-Ship missiles and focused on sinking every ship in the level. This unlocked after replaying the mission and additional 2 times.
Ghostbuster - Shoot down 200 enemy drones: Again, complete the story and then replay Mission 3 "Two Pronged Strategy". After shooting down the airplanes, an Arsenal Bird will appear and launch dozens of drones. Using the F-22 with 8 Air-to-Air missiles, I was able to average about 32 drones a mission. After 2 replays, I got this medal.
Mass Destruction - Shoot down 30 or more UAVs in Campaign Mission 3, "Two-Pronged Strategy": As said with Ghostbuster, you should be able to destroy 30 drones with an F-22 or other advanced fighter jet fairly easy.
First Try - Destroy 50 or more ground targets without using the Return Line in Campaign Mission 06, "Long Day": I used the F-22 with the Advanced Small Diameter Bombs and caused quite a bit of destruction. Once out, just use normal missiles and you will get far more than the 50 required.

Some of the medals require a lot of time or skill and hopefully unlocking this achievement will be a start to you mastering this game!
