How to unlock the Jumping At Shadows achievement in ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN - Definitive Guide
This achievement is for completing the sixteenth mission of the game and can be obtained on any difficulty.
Here's my playthrough of Mission 16 Last Hope.
Aircraft used: F-22A
Special weapon: 8AAM (8 air to air missiles)
Score required: None
Time limit: First section 20:00 / second section 15:00 (Normal)
This mission starts off with you escorting Labarthe (an escaping ally) along a highway through the city. All the satellites have been destroyed so your friend or foe system only works at close range. You need to fly close to any contacts to ascertain if they're an enemy or not. They appear yellow until confirmed and then blue if they're an ally or green if an enemy.
After you've escorted Labarthe to his destination, you'll come into contact with a transport plane with an escort. You'll be told to defend it - only shoot the contacts that are marked with a red 'TGT'. Once they're down, you'll then have to eliminate the escort drones but wait until your wingmen start to engage.
Tip: I played through a couple of hours of multiplayer, gaining enough MRP (in game currency) to purchase the F-15E which made this a lot easier and more fun than the starting F-16C. Around Mission 12, I had enough to purchase the F-22A which is the most capable aircraft I've found so far. The currency, planes and most part upgrade unlocks work across multiplayer / singleplayer but some upgrades are exclusive to multiplayer. You can also go into 'Free Mission' to replay for some extra cash.
Thanks for watching!
