How to unlock the Hero BMO achievement in Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion - Definitive Guide
This achievement is very straightforward and you should have no trouble completing this, but to ensure you don't get any achievement glitches, it seems to be safest to do these four achievements AFTER pulling the plug (as pointed out by Stifler4Life in their solution to the Pirates of the Enchiridion achievement).
You should be at around level 9 on all characters after completing all side quests and the main story if you attack every enemy you see. After that, the Fire Kingdom is the best place to grind, quickly drive around the kingdom in a clockwise direction, leave the area so that it loads the overworld, then sail back in.
EXTRA TIPS
-Always attack enemies your level or maybe one higher, but attacking way higher is usually a fools errand.
-If enemies are friendly to you (such as cinnamon bun's guards or the banana guards by the admiral), simply hit x to make sure you can grab XP from killing them.
-I'm fairly certain you earn less XP for a character if they get knocked out, so make sure to revive them just in case.
-Always make sure the final blow is done by somebody not yet level 10. This can be done by making sure any level 10s do their defensive move while the last enemy's health is low.
You will first recruit BMO during your return to the Evil Forest after rescuing Princess Bubblegum and returning her to the Candy Kingdom. BMO is terrible at combat and should be used as a support character – use him to dole out healing items (it charges his L3 attack bar, which when activated fully heals everyone and ups their attack power). You should also use his defense move, which charges your special move meter by a few points, depending on how much you've upgraded that ability. If you take the time to seek out his other special moves (I think they're in chests), he can actually become a pretty good mage character.
In terms of upgrading BMO, focus on maxing out his defense ability above everything else. After that, focus on his special abilities (only if you're using him as a mage, which is recommended, as his elementals are stronger than the rest of the party's), then his HP and evasion, in that order. Don't waste any money on upgrading his attack or accuracy stats; he's just not worth it as anything other than a support and/or mage character.
BMO is unlocked after story progress in the Evil Forest. He will refill your energy.
Playing the game naturally should level you up to around level 7-8. To get the last few levels, go back to harder islands like Fire Kingdom or islands you have not been to yet.
Extra leveling can help by killing the last enemy with that character or Overskronk.
To get to the training menu, hit then to upgrade characters and their special abilities.
If you are not sure what to upgrade to help you so you aren't wasting money for BMO is:
- Health
- Power Regeneration
- Special Ability Game Changer (very powerful to weakness)
Don't waste money or time on attack, accuracy or dodge upgrades.
