How to unlock the Hero Jake achievement in Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion - Definitive Guide

This guide applies to all four of the characters, as they nearly all hit level 10 at the same time.

This achievement is very straightforward and you should have no trouble completing this, but to ensure you don't get any achievement glitches, it seems to be safest to do these four achievements AFTER pulling the plug (as pointed out by Stifler4Life in their solution to the Pirates of the Enchiridion achievement).

You should be at around level 9 on all characters after completing all side quests and the main story if you attack every enemy you see. After that, the Fire Kingdom is the best place to grind, quickly drive around the kingdom in a clockwise direction, leave the area so that it loads the overworld, then sail back in.

EXTRA TIPS
-Always attack enemies your level or maybe one higher, but attacking way higher is usually a fools errand.
-If enemies are friendly to you (such as cinnamon bun's guards or the banana guards by the admiral), simply hit x to make sure you can grab XP from killing them.
-I'm fairly certain you earn less XP for a character if they get knocked out, so make sure to revive them just in case.
-Always make sure the final blow is done by somebody not yet level 10. This can be done by making sure any level 10s do their defensive move while the last enemy's health is low.

Both Jake and Finn start out at the same level, same experience range, but depending on who gets the finishing blow on big battles, there will be a bit of a discrepancy in their experience values by the end of the game. If you play through the game and focus on fighting everything directly in your way while solving all of the side quests, you should be eight if not nine by the end-game moment; from there, just focus on running through the Fire Kingdom gauntlet by starting with Cinnamon Bun, run left and up with the Trigger Action, and take down everything in your path as you go around in a clockwise/counterclockwise (depending on how you read the map) fashion.

You start the game with Jake. He's your wind (here called “swift”) elemental character, and can be turned into a pretty good tank if you want to (you'll have to seek out one of his special abilities).

In terms of upgrading Jake, focus on upgrading his special abilities first (I HIGHLY recommend always keeping his boomerang attack maxed). If you don't intend to use Jake as a tank, ignore his wall ability once you've found it, and put those upgrade points into attack, HP, accuracy, evasion, and defense, in that order. If you do intend to use Jake as a tank, make maxing his wall ability a priority, as well as maxing out his defense and HP stats.

If you are using Jake as a tank, try to enter as many battles as possible while controlling him; Jake will almost always be the starting character in the battle this way, which will allow you to throw up his wall abilities immediately.

Jake is unlocked right away from the beginning. Jake is your tank and special attacker at times.

Playing the game naturally should level you up to around level 7-8. To get the last few levels, go back to harder islands like Fire Kingdom or islands you have not been to yet.

Extra leveling can help by killing the last enemy with that character or Overskronk.

To get to the training menu, hit then to upgrade characters and their special abilities.

If you are not sure what to upgrade to help you so you aren't wasting money for Jake is:
- Health
- Few block or none
- Special Ability: Dogerang as much as you can
- Special Ability: Jake Shield as mush as you can

Don't waste money or time on attack upgrades.
