How to unlock the Impromptu achievement in AereA - Definitive Guide
*I was going to add this as a comment to the original solution posted by Sighris, but it might serve better as a solution in combination with the original post.
The 1 damage bug is indeed still there, hasn't been fixed in over 2yrs. However, I will say that anyone getting 1 damage make sure you have distributed all skill points as I tried doing it with a level 37 archer with 99 skill points not spent. I managed to make it to the boss monkey, but he did that air slam and pushed me through the barrier from which I couldn't get out of, still killed him but had to quit out because I couldn't grab the instrument. I then said screw it and spent my skill points raising crit and attack to 35+ each. Went from hitting 1 damage on all monsters to over 2000 non crit.
If you use the Archer you can heal your HP back up using the skill, should the boss be hitting 100+ damage crits on you while you hit 1's on it, like it did me. If you use the one special that does 5 punches + an arrow explosion you "might" hit a crit for 10-50 damage and if you time it right, you can start it again without the monkey actually hitting you. If he does hit you, run away and heal and then repeat the punches.
Any other character that is getting 1 damage I would recommend 1 thing, be above level 20 and have at least 40 skill points acquired and put into damage/crit. Use the desert map if needed and just work 3 spawns as the enemies there respawn and will start to give 30XP/30TP (as you get higher level around 20+ you'll get this total). The 1 damage bug seems to be tied to certain monsters that rank up as you rank up to give you more XP/TP, but the concert hall level in question seems 100% tied to your level. If you try like me to beat the game without using any skill points and enter this level at 20+, you'll be at the same point I and many others were where your character is base OP which also causes monsters to be OP but only worse than you can ever hope to be.

This is a story related achievement for picking up the instrument dropped from the fifth boss in the game in zone Liethel Concert Hall 2.
If you get 1 dmg glitch for boss fight use items. Idk what I had on me but used all 4 items and then started to do normal damage.

Okay, I also struggled with only doing 1 damage to this boss, but I managed to push through by exploiting critical hits, and hoping for the boss to bug out.
I encouraged this by playing with two players (it may work with more but I wanted to keep my playthroughs of this awful stage and 1 damage boss to an absolute minimum).
Make sure your main is either the archer or gunner at level 20+. Focus on raising its Critical Hit (aka Accuracy) as high as you can. Annoyingly I didn't know about this bug until I reached the boss and experienced it as a Lv 21 gunner, so my Critical Hit was only Level 6. The second players I used the Sword/Shield guy (tank), but his level doesn't matter so much (mine was level 11). It just means it won't die so quickly.
If you plan on actually playing with a other people IRL controlling Players 2+ when doing this, then raise their Critical Hit level as well. Otherwise, focus on their health so that they can act as sponges.
Now, with all characters, and a full stack of healing items for each one, navigate through Liethel's Concert Hall and reach the boss together. If your critical hit rate is really high, then you all might be able to just run in attacking/healing and push through with enough Critical Hits.
Unfortunately (and understandably) no one I knew wanted to play this, especially since the first time I played this with someone, their character fell through the floor, so I had to control two players myself.
The moment the boss spawned, I had the tank go north/west to block, and my gunner go south east to shoot. I moved both character around in their respective places whilst trying to keep distance from the boss until eventually, the boss just suddenly stopped moving. It was neither attacking, nor turning... Just standing there.
The moment you notice that he's bugged out, STOP MOVING. Have the gunner shoot from the very spot you're on, and just keep spamming shoot. The regular critical hits will be doing 60-100 damage and you will eventually push through to kill it. If you move around, the boss will likely get "unstuck" and will start moving around and attacking again, so you'll need to try and repeat that setup to bug it out again (this happened to me whilst I was trying to adjust my gunners aim).
I know this isn't really much of a reliable guide to completion, as you're relying on critical hit dice rolls as well as praying for a bug to actually activate, plus needing a second controller and juggling moving two characters, but I honestly couldn't think of nor find another solution. If the boss doesn't get stuck for you just keep trying until he does (there is annoyingly no way to retry, you just have to go through the level again - and having the Archer around means you can heal and having three or four players means you can all revive each other to full health). One thing is for sure though, the boss only got stuck when there was more than one player in the battle.
Good luck!
