How to unlock the Lucky Shot achievement in Afterparty - Definitive Guide

Near the start of the game, you'll follow the psychopomp Sam to a bar called the Schoolyard Strangler. Once there, you'll need to sneak into a party, upstairs. You are given the option to distract the bouncer by instigating a conflict, or earning yourself an invitation by beating a demon at blood pong. Obviously, choose the blood pong.

Playing as Lola, you need to sink a ball in three cups in just three throws. Using the background to line up your shot, aim the shot across Milo's hair to hit the first cup. There is also an angular rock in the wall, directly above Milo's head. Aim about 1/3 of the way up to that rock, from his head, to hit the second cup, and 2/3 up to hit the third cup. (This guide is to be used with the default throw power. Please see Update 2 for clarification.)

Luck plays a factor. So does hellcohol. The more you drink, the harder it is to aim. If you are drinking for the dialogue options, and your opponent is sinking his shots, it will become impossible to land your third shot, so bear that in mind.

If you miss a shot, immediately quit to the main menu, and then load up the game again. Unfortunately, you will have to sit through a bunch of dialogue again, to get to the minigame.

Update: "Its Dan" provides a helpful tip on skipping some of the dialogue, in the comment section, below.

Update 2: "Stevivor" points out that you can also change the power of your throw, by moving the stick left and right. As I was unaware of this feature, my aiming guide is to be used with the default throw power.

Update 3: The comments say "NoHeroes94"'s solution is better. Here it is:

1st Cup: Adjacent to Milo's head is a black triangle. Aim across the triangle.
2nd Cup: Using this same black triangle as a benchmark, aim so your arc is JUST above it.
3rd Cup: Above this black triangle is a small angled rock. Aim so your arc goes past the very bottom tip of this rock.

What I used (against Wormhorn, same table just at the end of the game whilst going for "It Does Have Its Charms"). Did it 3 times in a row whilst testing for the WT.

If you run straight over to Tommy and start talking to play beer pong but you don't press anything the game backs you out so you can go do the other choice, the game saves here and when you quit after missing it loads you right at the table, this saved me a ton of time.

Is there another chance to play beer pong after this part?

Not necessarily true as my two friends that I had on the team was Sam and Polly, both of which refused to take part in playing for story reasons. Therefore it kept going between milo and Lola as the other 2 just kept passing on their turn. However it’d still be really difficult to do at this point.

@J2B9 It's effectively impossible. It's certainly the worst time and place to try. On top of the AI's sabotaging you (by skipping turns or missing shots), you have to make four shots instead of three.

Faster to play against whormhoøe. Talk to her before going upstairs for reuinte with milo/lola. Go back down and play. If you miss you can to my menu and reload. And begins in front of beer pong table.

Aiming guide isn't the best. Doesn't take into account the power. At full power the aiming is more like across Milo's brow, across his hair, and heat over his head.

Power definitely is a factor -- if you move your left thumbstick left and right, you can see the targeting arc change.

What NoHeroes94 said worked perfectly for me, just wait until the drink wears off and you'll make the shot every time.

Took several tries, alot of patience and a few coffees; but I got it. If you're struggling, take a breather and come back to it. Another good piece of advice is to check YouTube. I found a video [specifically] designed for this achievement. I watched the clip, and paused it on the exact moment of lining up the throw. Then just keep switching between game and clip. It's so much easier to have a proper visual reference.

NoHeroes94 strategy listed here was more spot on than in the walkthrough. I don't know if Milo moves, but using the triangles as a reference was better than his hairline.

Noheroes94 strategy definitely works better. The hairline, 1/3, 2/3 thing is not as accurate

Wow, this is really annoying. I did Flappy Goat in 10 minutes, but it's going on 30 minutes here on this...

I get down to the last cup and keep missing it. No clue what a couple of you mean by "power" there's no way to see where you are aiming without holding left or right as it is.

OK, I see, when you mean power, you can hold left or right all the way, or only a little bit, and it'll add more lines to the throwing arc. Looked at 3 videos so far, none of my arcs are matching up to what's shown in the videos most of the time. God I hate luck based achievements...

OK, finally got it, took me almost an hour, bah.

I positioned the aimer with the end of the aim line on the tip of the upper left corner of the repent poster. It bounces once and lands in the first cup. Default power. I couldn't get Milo's hairline to work (but I also tried against wormhorn, not against tommy)

I just got this playing against Sister Mary Wormhole as NoHeroes and others have suggested. Milo DOES move right to left a little, so I'd try to aim across his forehead before he moved (bottom of the triangle works, too). I never saw the rock others mentioned, but aiming through the triangle and then above the triangle worked for me on the other shots (full power).

I missed and had to restart a few times while figuring out my aim, but that wasn't the worst of it. Several times in a row, I had one of two things happen - either Wormhole made all three shots in a row OR after my second successful shot, the game would glitch - Wormhole would start doing her spin dance and never stop. I would've had this done a lot sooner if not for those issues.

Noheroes aiming tips are what did it for me too. I watched some of the walkthrough videos and even at max aim my line was never the same as theirs for some reason.

@Garbo92 There are two more chances to play beer pong: Just after the two main characters make up, after their fight, you can play against Sister Mary Wormhorn. You're playing in the same place, but as Milo, who is taller than Lola, which means you have to work out another way of lining up the shots.

The other chance is when you show up to the show down with Satan and have a 4v4 game. It's impossible to get the Achievement, though, because two of your party members are AI controlled.

@Timmay Power is not something that you can control, as far as I am aware. If you can tell me how to control it, I'll shout you out in the guide.

Like I said, luck plays a factor. The best I can do is give general guidelines. It won't work 100% of the time. If someone uploads a 100% solution, I'll delete mine and give theirs a thumbs up.

Play a perfect game of beer pong...

...and I mean flawlessly (meaning you can't miss a single cup), because if so, you'll have to reload last checkpoint to try again. Achievement/trophy pops when successful.

Here is my 100% Achievement Guide for Afterparty!

This is slightly tricky and may take a few attempts to do.
So when you reach "The Schoolyard Strangler" for the first time, you end up having to make a choice between playing Beer Pong or distracting the bouncer by egging on a demon and guy fighting. Obviously choose beer pong.

Now, you can change the power of your throw, but if you go to 37:20 in my part 1 video, you see EXACTLY where i place the ball AND with full power too.
Not sure if its a 100% success rate, but i did that twice, in the same position and done them both first time.

So hopefully, with you being able to view where it is, it gives you an easier time of landing all 3 shots perfectly!
If you do miss, immediately quit out to the main menu and reload.

Hope this helps!

i just followed guilder´s description
1st Cup (Nearest): Across Milo's Forehead/Hairline
2nd Cup (Middle): Look above Milo. You'll see an angled rock. Aim roughly 1/3 between Milo's head and that rock
3rd Cup (Furthest): Similar as above, but this time aim 2/3 between Milo's head and that rock.
,very useful & essence tips

To play as Lola, Milo must say in dialogue that he doesn't know how to play. The first glass - the dotted line of the throw should be just above Milo's eyebrows, the second - at or just above the edge of the head, the third - the line should almost reach the white background of the dog poster
If you didn’t manage to get the achievement the first time, go to the menu and load the save file, the game will start with a dialogue before the competition

Playing beer pong to gain access to the 2nd floor of the School Strangler bar will be Milo's decision.

To get the trophy you need to never miss. If you don't get it, go to the menu and load the save. The checkpoint will be just before the start of the beer pong game.
