How to unlock the Eagle's eye achievement in Agatha Christie - The ABC Murders (Xbox One) - Definitive Guide

Achievement may glitch!
Apparently this achievement can glitch sometimes. If you failed to unlock it, try deleting your save file and re-doing all the observations. This should unlock the achievement, while re-using a preexisting save does not work. (thanks to Celestis and to oneEyEstang22 confirming this)

Hints:
Every obsveration counts, afaik. That means the ones where you simply click cn_Y to investigate plus those where you have to use the cn_RS to focus on things (+ controller vibrating).

Every observation counts. Environmental and people.

There are some which can be easily missed. As far as I remember, a few of the more far fetched ones were:
- At the first crime scene (Andover) just right at the beginning there is a store on the left which you have to examine.
- At the second murder site, you can observe the beach by going all the way to the right on the main street. You can also observe the café where some of the witnesses are (all the way on the left) before entering.
- Insinde the mansion (the first time you're there and also after interviewing the sick old lady) there are a lot of shelves and cupboards that can be "observed". Often you have to do this before triggering the main event because afterwards this isn't possible anymore. When you're inside the living room for the first time and Hastings is keeping watch, the trigger event is solving the puzzle of the left shelf (assigning the chinese symbols) in the back. So try investigating everything else before solving this puzzle.

My last advice is:
Try investigating EVERYTHING and absolutely everything before you continue on ingame. Most of the time, you cannot investigate/observe some things after triggering some main story event. So before you try solving the case try clicking on everything possible in that particular spot where you find yourself in. There are not a lot of options here and I had absolutely no problem getting this achievement (whilst not even trying) in my first playthrough.

There is an excellent guide from Gamepressure which has marked every observations. You can find it here: http://guides.gamepressure.com/agathachristietheabcmurders/
(thanks to oneEyEstang22 for the tip)

If you missed it, the game saves your progress for every achievement (it is cumulative over multiple playthroughs - you don't have to do all this in one). It will unlock in every other playthrough as soon as you have investigated all there is. :)

Good luck!

Maybe it's post-patch behavior, but I played through it on a clean account to validate the hotspots on several of the observation pages for my walkthrough and after interrogetting Cust at the end, Eagle Eye unlocked even though I skipped a number of non-essential observations (like the monument to the left of the garden in Churston). I wonder if it's only the observations where the controller vibrates that count (since I think I did do all of those). The observations make just via cn_Y aren't included in this.

If this glitches, like it did for me, make sure to delete not only the Xbox save, but also the cloud save. Select the save file itself - you must have the option of "delete from everywhere". If you don't have this option, and you just delete the save file on the hard drive, then when you start the game again it will immediately re-sync with the cloud save and you'll waste another play-through.

That would make sense. The ones where you focus on certain points are the ones that state "Observation" (like how puzzles say "Thinking"), and when you inspect Japp for the first time, it explains that Observations have you find three things that support/answer what Poirot says.

For example, in the first chapter, comparing the Observation of the front window of the store (zooming in) to the "observation" of the counter (pressing Y):
- When you observe the front window, an "Observation" banner appears on the side when you start, and "Observation success!" when it ends (like how the puzzles all state "Thinking" and "Thinking success!"). anything.
- For the window, Poirot states "The place is unusually tidy for a crime scene..." and the three things you zoom in on are to support that. Afterward, he says "Nothing suggests any sign of a fight." He doesn't say anything at the counter, and you're mainly just investigating and studying potential clues.
- Once you complete the window, trying to observe it again simply has him state his closing statement ("Nothing suggests..."), while observing the counter (and every item in it) will happen as if you've never done it before (ex: looking at the bag again, he'll still mention blood oozing), except that the icon will always say 3/3.

I read about the achievement glitching (or descriptions being wrong), so I don't know if the only glitch people are talking about is about progress not updating future playthroughs in the same file (unlike Black Dragon for example, which carries over the dragons you've already seen), or if finding all of the official Observations doesn't work.

I'll probably make a list of all the official observations and try the achievement again only focusing on those.

I think I'll delete all saves from the X1 and start from scratch & see if that does anything, it will be a while until I try again but I'll let you all know if I succeeded smile

Like a few others have said, if this doesn't unlock on your first playthrough I would advise you delete your save and start fresh. I didn't at first and had to play the game 3 times. On the 3rd playthrough under a different save slot it finally unlocked. I also recommend using the GamePressure guide mentioned, it's great.

Remember it is only the "Observations" that count here, not just looking at stuff by pressing Y, but it has to be on the screens where it says "Observations" The rest is just filling, i got this when i observed Cust in chapter 4, and there is still an aligator to observe after and some more, so it is only the "observation" "mini games"

Same here. I've finished this game for the third time today and still no achievement. For the life of me, I cannot even start to fathom what I might be missing. Is there anywhere a list with all required actions?

Norfen all the observations that you have made in any of your play throughs are suppose to be tracked by the game. I've played it 3 times and have to say on the 2nd & 3rd time I actually think I did find an observation that I missed but still no chvo.

So to be clear, there is no way to go back and replay these chapters? If you delete your game save you have to go through this whole game again? It's my last achievement and not sure I want to go through this whole game again to grab 1 achievement. Was painful enough the first time. :)

I can verify there is likely something wrong playing 2 games in parallel. I was doing a good playthrough and bad one side by side in different profiles. So this may have glitched me.

So I can verify like others that deleting your save (on the cloud too) and restarting works. If you are playing as I did and had 2 saved profiles (one for the good and one for the bad playthrough), this will not unlock the achievement if you forget an observation in the first game you play. Unlike some other achievements, such as looking into all the mirrors, it popped on my second profile. Playing through this gasme for 1 achievement was painful.

Before I get into the details of how to unlock this achievement, there is something you need to understand. THIS ACHIEVEMENT IS GLITCHED. If you trigger the glitch, the only way to get rid of the glitch is by completely deleting your Save Data. FifthBloodHell has confirmed that trying to bypass the glitch by playing on a different in-game Save Slot will not work.

I don't know exactly what triggers the glitch, but it seems like if you don't make all the observations in your first playthrough, the achievement will not unlock, even if you meet the requirements in later playthroughs. I can confirm that you can back out to the game menu on your first playthrough and it won't trigger the glitch. I can't confirm if closing the game triggers the glitch. Once again, if anyone tests this, please PM me the results and I will update my guide.

To delete your Save Data, you need to get to the "Manage" menu for the game and go to "Saved Data".
Once there, select your save file and select "Delete Everywhere". If you just select "Delete From Console" or the "Delete All" option from the previous menu, it will delete the save data from your console, but it will not delete the save data from the Cloud. So when you boot up the game again, it will upload your save data that's still glitched. You'll know if you deleted it correctly if you start going through a new game and the "Help" menus pop up and the in-game achievements unlock once you meet their requirements like they did the first time you played the game. (Not the achievements adjacent to your Gamertag.)

ALRIGHT, so what are Observations?

Observations are essentially the Mini-Game that you play that involves you having a white circle that you move around a scene and/or person to investigate three points of interest. You'll know if you started an Observation Mini-Game because the word "Observation" will be on the screen when you start it. The circle you move will turn greener/smaller and your controller will vibrate more the closer the circle is to the point of interest. You have to hold the circle over the point of interest for around 2 seconds for it to be considered Observed. Once you've "Observed" all three points of interest, the Observation is complete. You'll know if you found them all/did it correctly if the marker shows 3/3 and the Mini-Game ends.

The points of interest that you will be searching/observing, in general to progress through the game, are not required to unlock the achievement.

There are around 35 Observations. Most will be done through normal story progression, but there are at least 10 missable observations, possibly 14 in total. Once again, if anyone tests the possibly missable observations, please PM me and I will update my guide.

They are......

CHAPTER ONE

1. Boarded up Butcher's Shop (Missable)

This Should become unobtainable after you leave Andover.

2. Mrs. Acher's Kitchen Unit (Possibly Missable)

This Should become unobtainable after you leave Andover.

3. Chief Inspector Japp's Office's Fame Corner (Missable)

This Should become unobtainable after you leave Chief Inspector Japp's Office.

CHAPTER 2

4. Bexhill Victorian Houses (Missable)

This Should become unobtainable after you leave Bexhill.

5. Outside The Ginger Cat (Missable)

This Should become unobtainable after you leave Bexhill.

6. The Barnard's Living Room (Possibly Missable)

This Should become unobtainable after you leave Bexhill.

7. Suitcase (Missable)

This will only happen if you choose the right dialog option.

CHAPTER 3

8. Ocean Cliff Scenery (Missable)

This Should become unobtainable after you leave the scene.

9. Franklin Clarke (Missable)
MAKE SURE YOU OBSERVE FRANKLIN FIRST. IF YOU OBSERVE THORA GREY FIRST, YOU WILL LOSE THE ABILITY TO OBSERVE FRANKLIN.

10. Oriental Silk Wall Hanging (Missable)

This should be unobtainable once Thora returns.

11. Lady Clarke Photos (Possibly Missable)

This should be unobtainable once you've left the bedroom after playing the music box and talking to Lady Clarke for the last time.

12. Franklin's Hunting Corner (Missable)

This should be unobtainable once you've left Churston the second time.

CHAPTER 4

13. Cat's Bed (Missable)

This should be unobtainable once you leave the guest house.

14. Mrs. Marbury (Possibly Missable)

This should be unobtainable once you leave the guest house.

IF ALL OF THE OBSERVATIONS WERE FOUND AND DONE CORRECTLY, THIS ACHIEVEMENT WILL UNLOCK AFTER OBSERVING CUST.

Have questions? Suggestions? Notice Errors? Feel free to PM me.

Yup confirm that playing on a different save slot doesn't do the trick.
Got my achievement bugged and what I did was clean all the saves from both cloud and local storage and went through the game again.
When I have reached the interrogation room and made the last observation the achievement unlocked without issues. +1 for all the details Cheers
