How to unlock the On the Account achievement in Age of Booty - Definitive Guide

Level 7 on Medium is by far the hardest board in the game. It's harder than level 7 on hard as I beat hard on my first try without looking at any suggestions on what to do. So if you use this method I'm about to talk about, it should help you out on any other board you play.

Other people have given the strategy of taking the top towns first as they CPU doesn't really go after them. Well I tried that and it didn't work for me at all. Once you take a town in this game, the CPU will come to that town next and take it from you. Being that you re-spawn back in at the bottom of the screen, you will not make it back up to the top in time to help defend it any, even if you got the town all the way upgraded. So when you lose the town, you lost your time and effort on all you did and you probably won't win the match.

So what I did was flip the strategy and didn't concentrate on the top but worked on the bottom instead.

When you first start out, upgrade your guns twice, it'll save you time on taking out merchant ships and oil drum islands. Stick to the bottom of the map and just run around collecting crates destroying merchant ships. Once you run all that out, the next part depends on the CPU. If they are already coming down attacking one of the lower side towns, go up behind them so you're firing on one of the ships. Once it goes down, grab the crate. Reason being is I noticed if you take out CPU ships, they are more likely to drop wood rather than gold so it will help you upgrade your ship and towns by racking up the wood. Let them fight the towns and you hit them from the back while collecting the loot. This helped me upgrade my ship and towns way faster by taking them out versus the towns.

Now, while you're upgrading your ship, be sure to upgrade speed first so you can get around fast to keep collecting crates when they show up and then upgrade your guns to take out the other ships faster. After that, upgrade your armor as it comes up in between upgrading your towns as you will be mostly concentrating on towns at this point.

Once you have upgrade your ship to the fastest speed and maxed out your guns. Maybe even 1 armor by this point as well depending on how things are going. If the cpu hasn't taken down the bottom middle town yet, go take it over and work solely on upgrading the town to max. Stay there and help defend it if they are going straight to attacking it. You should be able to keep gaining crates and if you do die, you can get back and fight them again really quick while they are weak. So you can take them down quickly and be able to get the loot as well. Once your town is maxed out and the CPU is leaving the town alone, look to see which town the CPU has control over and has upgraded. When I played the right side was upgraded once and they hadn't touched the left side one yet. So take out the higher upgraded one the CPU holds as this prevents them from racking up towns to win. You will have to defend the town and work to upgrade it fully before you can leave it but you have to protect the bottom middle one as well. The CPU will try for a little bit but once the towns energy is up from being fully maxed out, they back off. At that point, go take the other town and do the same.

At this point your ship should either be maxed out or 1 away on full armor and all 3 towns on the bottom should be fully maxed out.

Now you have to look at the top of the map to see what's going on. The CPU's were fighting over a town at the top so I ran up the side they were fighting on (the right side for me) and sacked the town in front of the CPU base. The base they were fighting over was the one above that one, so it's a weak town and easy to take down with a maxed out ship. So once you start attacking that town, the CPU is going to come so you will have to defend the town after you obtain it. The ships re-spawn right beside you but you're gaining health back by owning the town and make sure to get it upgraded at least once. Eventually they will go off on another path and not fight you for a moment.

During this fighting I hit the 2 minute warning for the game being over and I controlled 4 towns with the bottom 3 maxed out so they could last if they got attacked.

Once that CPU goes off somewhere else, quickly rush up if and destroy any ships and take over the weak town above you. Once you capture the town, that's 5 and you'll win.

Granted lets say you lose a town before you can take the top town. You will still either be at 3 or 4 towns and when the time runs out, whoever controls the most towns wins. So you should still win even if the time runs out.

Hopefully this strategy will help someone who had a bunch of trouble on this map like I did or at least give you some good tips on how to win better.

Fuck man, I have done maybe 20 times this level and still not passing it. I've maxed 3 towns and the two teams always split up and attach separate targets. Going to try more tonight.

Wow, I gave up on ever beating this challenge over 5 years ago. But with your advice, I was able to do it on my 3rd or 4th try. Cheers.

I got lucky and won Level 7 on my first try.

Didn't take any towns at the start, only gathered resources for an upgrade or two.

Eventually took Hamilton at 6 o'clock, defended it until upgraded once, then took the next neutral town at 7-8 o'clock. Defended both until they were both upgraded again, then wittled down the computer town at 4-5 o'clock with bombs and hit and run attacks. Then ran back and forth defending the 3 bottom towns.

By this time, we were down to 3-4 mins left. I got lucky and Pete managed to take a town at 10-11 o'clock. I continued to defend the bottom 3 towns, then raced up to the 4th with about 60 seconds left to help Pete keep the town to win with 4 towns as time ran out.

I finally beat level 5... I basically camped the top town the entire game and let my teammate upgrade. I upgraded my speed first whenever I sought an opportunity, but I always went back to guard the top town. My teammate fully upgraded speed then armor then FINALLY upgraded cannons to attack the bottom town as the entire enemy was attacking me at the top town.

Thanks Dragonborn Gear for your strategy on Medium Level 5.

I definitely lost it about a dozen times and wasn't making much progress.

Some observations

1) Like Dragonborn Gear mentioned, it's really important to camp and defend the top town. This means you need to win the northern town ASAP off the start. This is also important, as you will need a place to continually heal as you are too slow to sail back to your volcano each time

2) Unfortunately, the northern town produces wood and rum, but no gold. So it's going to be difficult to afford town upgrades. It will however provide ample resources for ship upgrades passively over time.

3) I tried sailing directly for the southern town off the start to win a town that can produce gold and be easily upgraded, but all 4 enemy monkey ships sail directly for it and your lack of speed combined with battling 4 enemies and a two-star town on one health bar is a lost cause.

4) If you do manage to accumulate four gold, upgrade your town ASAP for more leeway and more town health. This will allow you more freedom to stray further from your town to attempt ship upgrades or to attack merchant ships to get curses to pilfer gold or bomb the opposing town.

5) Whenever a ship upgrade is available, it is a quandary whether you should limp back to your volcano to upgrade your speed or let your AI counterpart slowly upgrade, seemingly chosen randomly. If possible, I would wait until your town is upgraded at least once before trying to get back to your volcano. Your AI counterpart is outnumbered 4:1 and I lost the town everytime I left it when at baseline.

6) Ultimately, you will need a three-star upgraded teammate to win, since your teammate will ultimately need to take the second town themselves while you continue to defend town #1.
Your teammate seems to upgrade at random, preferring early Armor or Speed upgrades. Your AI teammate also won't upgrade immediately every time they return to home base. The AI also constantly pilfers your supplies.

7) When your town is upgraded and healed closer to full health, consider straying farther from the northern town when the cost is clear to attack merchant ships in search of bombs. Bombing the southern town, especially when your teammate is upgraded, will help your AI finally capture the southern town and end the match.

8) If your ship gets sunk, you most likely lose. Try not to fight two adjacent ships as much as possible. If you are getting double teamed or low on health, try to move to the hex adjacent to the town that is sheltered by the island to divide to provide some cover.

Here's what I did for the 7th medium challenge (the only one really causing problems):

I noticed that the northern towns were more or less neglected during a lot of my previous attempts. So I changed tactics entirely, starting to capture the northern towns and letting Pete do his own thing as usual. I began by taking Smithville, then I just kept attacking the merchant ships in the area and collecting crates until I could upgrade the town (I also took the time to upgrade my ship every now and then during the match). Then I captured Goldspring, and upgraded both towns fully. Then I upgraded my ship a bit before taking Rum River. By the time I had all three northern towns maxed, I had a pretty good ship as well, as I had taken the time to upgrade it in between town upgrades. Then I just played watchdog on my towns for a while, hoping for Pete to contribute a bit (as he does every once in a while). I also kept an eye on any weak enemy towns, ready to attack it when the time was right. Pete finally managed to take a town of his own, and then I went for a town that looked weak. I captured it pretty quickly and won the round.

The hardest challenge on Medium is obviously the final challenge, so these are some tips I've found helpful:

For some reason most of enemies concentrate their efforts on a particular area of the map, usually the south area. As you take your first towns, keep an eye on which area of the map is the most busy and then focus your efforts on the opposite area.

Full upgrade one town before starting to upgrade another and if you're losing one particular town again and again forget about it and go for different town.

Try to get as many towns as you can without worring too much about the ones you didn't upgrade. You will soon find that some towns are never attacked while others are constantly being taken.

My Strategy Guide to being completely awesome!!!
Throughout playing Age of Booty I found that it is very important to keep moving no matter what

For this achievement you will need to complete all 7 Medium challenges
(2nd star) **

1) The first thing I did on every map was look at all the locations and try to see which ones would be the best to take for upgrades and town upgrades.
Try to grab the towns that have multiple mining options I.E. Gold and Trees or double resources

2) Restart the level so you can get the jump on where you want to go

3) I always upgraded my ships cannons and speed by one (Most levels give you two upgrades to start with) I normally do cannons two then armor then speed 2 then armor 2 speed 3 cannon 3 armor 3
Never fully upgrade Cannons or Armor if you haven't fully upgraded the speed because you will be going slower than Davey's locker

4) In the beginning I always let the AI teammate just go do what he wants because for the most part he'll protect and attack

5) I like to attack the bases in the middle in the beginning because those can be hard to recapture if you upgrade them

6) NEVER upgrade while your base is being attacked it will get destroyed fast

7) when attacking a base or a ship keep your ship moving at all time you will avoid getting shot this way

8) To quickly take a town place a bomb powerup next to the town so that you can get a good start on taking down the town.

9) Focus on your upgrades as much as you can (once you get them use them the AI will use them but really one good ship is way better in my oppinion USE the upgrades as soon as possible so you dont get monkeyed out of resources)

10) Most of the time when an enemy is attacking your base if your show up and take the space next to him and besides the base the enemy will retreat.
****When your up against your base your health regenerates slowly but efficiently****

11) Try not to die as you lose your resources

12) Attack the little ships (The bombs are way worth it) and islands with resources that your lacking PICK up floating crates as well

13) Cherry Pick towns (Let enemies destroy most a base then swoop in for the take over)

If anyone would like to add some tips or pointers to my solution just leave a comment :D Good luck
