How to unlock the Cuman Flush achievement in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide
Quickfire tips:
- The Mongol (Orange) threat isn't real. Ignore their taunts. You'll have plenty of time.
- Immediately build two Town Centers (Cuman faction perk), keep cranking out Villagers.
- Focus on food and wood. You need much less gold than normal due to limited upgrades.
- Train Pikes and Rams, mix in a few Men-At-Arms with surplus food.
- Keep your Cav in reserve at first, until you need to chase down soft targets like Cav Archers or Villagers.

As always scout the map by using "marco" & "polo" cheats (restart mission afterwards), or by doing the resign > return to map method.

Great guide from Healtti, as always. To add a few additional comments:
- Healtti wasn't kidding about having plenty of time. I am an extremely slow Ager, and my total time for the mission was 00:45:11, but I never saw the Mongols.
- I didn't need to clear every area and I don't think I chased down every last Tatar villager and military unit--taking down the two castles and town centers seemed to be enough. I never even reached the two small areas on the right of the Tatar area (would love to embed the image here but if you Marco Polo the map, you'll know the ones I mean). I went directly south from first (left) town center, then moved west to the castle, then south to the town center, then southeast to the second castle. The game ended when I knocked down that second one.

This was indeed really easy. When playing on standard difficulty you can win this with your starting army, just bait the enemy under your tower, and building RAMS for the castles.
Just destroy the town centers and castles, two each, of yellow to the west of the map. I used my arrow firing horses to shoot down all villagers, even under the TC. On standard the villagers won't go in the TC for some reason. Don't shoot the TC though because then the villagers will go into the TC. Well it makes it easier to achieve this achievement :).

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (PC) - Achievement - Cuman Flush
Win the second Kotyan mission "The Battle at the Kalka River" without advancing to the Castle Age.
This achievement might sound more problematic than it actually is. Follow the instructions until you obtain a base and get your economy in order. Your allies will prevent you from being flanked for quite a long time, giving you the time you need to defeat Yellow.
They have two Castles and a few walls, but nothing a bunch of Battering Rams won't sort out. Just make sure you have a decent sized force to protect them with as bear in mind - their units will probably be more advanced, so you'll have to play the numbers game.
Overall, the resistance they give is minimal and the only thing to keep an eye out for is the occasional light attack which you should have the forces to counter.

Europe : 2nd Kotyan mission "The Battle at the Kalka River
This achievement can be done in less than 15 minutes in game.
Start the mission as standard difficulty.
Use the marco / polo cheat to see the full map then restart the mission.
Once your initial forces reach the cuman tribes :
- build 2 towncenters
- research horse and archer upgrades (armor, fletching and forging) in the Blacksmith that is already build.
- immediatly attack the nearby yellow towncenter. You can destroy the first base with your initial forces (killing villagers before they enter in the TC).
There is a monk in the middle that will heal your units so you can keep your cavalry alive without training anymore units
Keep in mind that hills will give you a huge bonus against Tatars archer and cav (+25% atk +25% def) and if you are close to a villager you could kill him in one hit of your 9 starting units.
Focus on wood so you could build 3/4 rams that should be more than enough to destroy the 2nd TC and both of the castles.
Once the first base is destroyed kill all the villagers near the gold, the mill and the 2nd TC then finish Tatars with your rams (1 on the TC and each castle or 2 for the TC then each castle).
That's it ;).

Quite easy: at the start, retreat straight to the objective, and from there build a couple of town centres and build your economy being careful not to advance in age. You can take you starting troops south to start harassing the yellows and can even take out there closest town centre if you take out the villagers first to give yourself the advantage. This should put them on the back foot. Once you have a reasonable economy train some troops such as spearman and scout cavalry, in addition you can also train battering rams in the feudal age to help with the castles. Only focus on yellows, ignore the oranges to the east entirely.
