How to unlock the No Wonder on My Watch achievement in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

---
I let all four enemy factions start their Wonder construction before wiping them out. It's probably not necessary but better safe than sorry, considering the Wonder achievement SNAFU in the Genghis Khan Campaign.
---

Quickfire tips:
- Take a good 10+ minutes (in game) to set up your economy. No need to rush.
- Green player likes to raid your base occasionally. Leave a rear guard.
- Choose 1-2 units to mass produce, simultaneously max out relevant upgrades. Elite Tarkans are solid all-around. (I massed Cav Archer with Trebuchet support)
- The AI factions' Wonder build order is randomized. You'll have to choose your target based on the alerts.
- For max efficiency draw the enemy out and destroy their army in a field battle. Then push quickly into their base and target the Town Center, Villagers, and all military production.
- Keep your economy going and replace casualties as needed.

The achievement will pop mid-game as soon as the fourth enemy faction has resigned.

As always scout the map beforehand using "marco" & "polo" cheats (restart afterwards), or by doing the resign > return to map method.

My experience with the achievement was very different from the video which bvrgvndy posted--I found this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4K1UfqvfMdQ; credit T-West) to be much more representative. [I played on Standard, not Hard.] I also found that the order was exactly the same as in the video--Purple (in the middle), Red (in the north), Orange (southeast), Purple (wherever they managed to sneak a villager), and then Green. I built up my economy as Healtti suggested, built a few Castles and left Knights to defend against Battering Rams (of which Green and Purple sent many!) and then pushed through Purple's main base as quickly as I could. You can actually snipe the Purple and Red wonders with your initial Trebuchets if you're quick enough and don't mind losing them once they've done their work. [Make sure that when you destroy Red's Wonder, you also destroy the Town Center as well. When you do, they'll resign shortly afterwards.]

Also note that Purple have a Town Center in Orange's base, so clearing out their main base isn't enough. It's a good idea to drop a Castle in the middle of their original base as they seem to like to rebuild within the walls, and since they will try to build a second Wonder, putting a Castle there can help you kill their Villagers on the way to start it.

Purple were the first to start building which I stopped, but in the course of defeating the others they managed to build and complete a second one, however I still got the achievement. Which I'll certainly take after the hell that was this mission.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (PC) - Achievement - No Wonder on my Watch

Destroy every enemy Wonder before it is completed in the sixth Attila the Hun mission "The Fall of Rome".

Start by building a couple more Town Centres to boost your economy early on. Our strategy is basically going to be mass Elite Tarkans with a side order of Trebuchets. The only real danger is early on if you get in to a fight and you haven't got your army big enough yet. Although you have to react to your enemies building Wonders, it's not particularly difficult to get to them with time to spare and take them down. Just get a few stables up, upgrade your Tarkans and bring a few Trebuchets along. You should be able to max out your population pretty much after taking down the first wonder. It can be wise to bring a few villagers along to build Castles whilst your attacking for some extra support.

This can be quite difficult and a bit of a rush but part of it is knowing when the enemy will build a wonder.

  • Patavium (purple) who start next to you will build a wonder straight from the start
  • Aquileia (red) in the north build when your troops enter Patavium's walls
  • Mediolanum (green) to south of your base, build a wonder at the hour mark
  • Verona (yellow) in the east build once you have entered Mediolanum's walls
  • Patavium (purple) build a second wonder once you have entered Verona
A basic strategy might may be as follows:

  • Build a castle near the lake at Patavium early on and attack the gate, this will lure out there troops. Then destroy the wonder.
  • You will want to destroy part of the town later on if you get chance as they will still continue to build troops from there and also build a 2nd wonder there later.
  • Aquileia's wonder can be attacked from outside there base by going to the far north with trebuchets, they will resign once the wonder and town centre are destroyed
  • Mediolanum's wonder can also be attacked from outside the walls via going as far east to the coast with trebuchets. It is recommended that if you have time you take out there outside castle and some of the base before they start building. They will resign once the wonder and town centre are destroyed.
  • Verona's wonder should be easy as by now most enemies should be dead and you should have a large army, if you take out there town centre and wonder they will immediately resign after this.
  • Patavium's final wonder is also easy as everyone else should be dead by now, so once you have destroyed Verona's just take your army back and quickly destroy it forcing them to resign once there 2nd town centre is also destroyed.
