How to unlock the The Missionary achievement in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide
There are 5 relics on the map you have to capture split into two locations. This is somewhat missable though!
4 of them are on the left side of the map, to reach them, simply get Line of Sight (LOS) by building an outpost at the corner forest. You will then gain some monks and a monastery under your control. Just collect the 4 relics there
the last one is a bit tricky because you cannot capture Alfonso before you capture destroy the monastery in Alfonso's town. The town itself isn't too tough. You don't even really need to build a TC yourself. However I did and went in with some battering rams to clear a path. This is because the towers will wreck your army if you're not careful.
Once Alfonso's Monastery is destroyed, pick up the relic and collect it. Then finish the mission and the achievement will pop in Post-game. (It took about 30 seconds longer for me for some reason, be aware)

Even if you destroy the castle first and Alfonso becomes your ally, you can still order a mangonel to destroy the monastry with the attack ground command.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (PC) - Achievement - The Missionary
Collect all Relics in the first El Cid mission "Brother Against Brother".
This achievement is fairly straightforward. There aren't any time constraints - You just need to know where all the Relics are and capture them. The achievement will pop once the mission is completed. This video begins once I've already established a base. The map will be revealed to a large extent once you build a Market.
Four of the Relics are in the far West of the map, in a wooded area where some Priests are. They will join you once you discover them and their Monastery will become yours so you can deposit them there. There is a fifth Relic - If you have a look at your enemies Monastery, you will notice a flag on it, indicating that there is something garrisoned within - The final Relic. Once you destroy the enemies castle, he surrenders and becomes an ally. You can obtain the Relic beforehand or simply change your diplomatic status back to enemy or neutral after this event and destroy his Monastery after he has made peace with you.

There are a total of five Relics on the map, four of which are located in a clearing in the far east of the map below Alfonso's base, and Alfonso has the final one. Once you have a base you will want to take some men to the far east and gain control of the monks there along with the Relics.
Once you have these, start attacking Alfonso's base. His monastery is located to the north of his base.
Note: If he changes stance and becomes allied with you before you can destroy it and take the relic just use a Mangonel on attack ground.
