Definitely, the easiest way. It's a shame that the achievement is still bugged

This achievement is impossible for me… I’ve followed the video perfectly and the king runs before I can cut him off

They may have made a small adjustment because his health is way higher as of 2022. I used the Elephants to help pick off other units so you can get him as he's running, unabated.

Took a few tries but worked perfectly, thank you! I also used my elephants to pick off enemies to the left of their camp and to trigger the king to run, so I could attack from the right like the video shows. For some reason, unlike in this video, he wouldn't start running unless I walked right up to him so using the elephants solved that problem :)

+1 for this solution. Instead of only having the horses though, I walked the entire army along the tree line, smashed a hole in the wall and ran them all through, then sent them FROM THE RIGHT, directly at the king for the kill

Even if you lose a few units, they should more or less surround the king fully and thereby netting you the achievement when he goes down. From this point, just restart if you want to play again with the extra units or just roll with it as the scenario becomes pretty easy now the king is dead!

A micro management skill check, essentially. Not easy but short and quite straight-forward, because your options are limited.

Some tips:
Play the scenario once, with the map revealed ("marco" + "polo") to get a feel for what you're up against.

Make a save after configuring your unit stances, control groups and research (cav upgrades) & production queues. Now you have a good retry point when you need it.

To supplement the starting army I built triple racks and spammed spearmen for cheap and fast distraction and mixed in some scout cav who you can send out to get the reinforcement units, mainly the monk.

The main thing is getting your monks to convert the enemy War Elephants as soon as you have the mana. You'll fight two sets of two Elephants, then there's two more at the red base just south of the castle.

Make a save when the castle is at half health! The king always flees the castle before it's destroyed. Try to body block possible exits with your units and box him in.

This is a great guide (as are all of Healtti's AOE2:DE guides), but in this case there's actually a much quicker way to achieve this for those of us (like me) who are terrible at micromanagement. It involves sneaking your five arambais towards the king, attacking the palisade wall, and then killing the king as he runs toward you. When you approach the palisade wall, you'll need to kill the two men-at-arms who come to harass you, but if you're careful you can avoid alerting the elephants until you're ready to attack the king. I got this at my first attempt in about 120 seconds.

There is some gaia rams and trebuchets way down the castle (southeast in the map) that will help you a lot

Why does this have a discontinued Flag?

discontinued because the most recent update #42848 made it unobtainable

It seems like just carelessness, this achievement was unobtainable before, then fixed in a patch, then the most recent update made it unobtainable again. I’m betting on it being fixed with the release of the new expansion later this month.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (PC) - Achievement - Chasing the Crown

Kill King Takayutpi before 5 minutes have elapsed in the first Bayinnaung mission "The Burmese Tigers".

This is a relatively difficult timed achievement. Five minutes is not a lot of time to track the King across the map, kill a few units along the way, destroy his Castle and then kill him.
This method is basically just to do all of the above as fast as humanly possible. There are a couple of things to note which should make this a little easier. Firstly, one of your starting heroes is basically a Monk and as you chase the King across the map, you will come across a few enemy elephants. It's important to convert as many of these as possible as you will need the damage to take out a Castle shortly as quick as possible and elephants will be able to soak up a lot of the damage too.
Secondly after you get to the initial camp where the King is and he flees, if you continue right, you will get control of a few more troops including a Monk. With this second monk, make sure to convert elephants on your way to the Kings castle as well.
The third thing to note is that the King will exit the Castle once it reaches a certain level of damage and he will make a run for it. One tip for making this easier is - As you are destroying the castle, send one fast moving unit further to the top right of the map and you will get some ranged horse-riding troops that will make it easier to snipe the King when he does leave the Castle.
Do all of the above as fast as you can and if at first you don't succeed, just keep trying to do it quicker and quicker and shave some time off. Your starting heroes are all expendable, so don't worry about losing them either.

Requires a bit of micro management but not too bad. As soon as the scenario starts take your unique unit (Arambai) east then put them in between the southern palisade wall and the trees. Attack the wall several tiles in then take your men upwards. Attack the king making sure you block his path. If he escapes just restart. If you're having difficulty you have enough time to research bloodlines at the stable, or even the castle age followed by husbandry.

It's very easy to get the achievement. From the start, we grab the unique horse archers and run to the king, but do not go beyond the fence, otherwise he will run away to his castle, from where he cannot be reached in 5 minutes. You need to walk along the fence, break the wall and kill from here.
