How to unlock the Furor Teutonicus achievement in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

Possibly buggy, or at the very least some conditions seem unclear.

My current working theory is that interacting with the Cumans screws up the achievement somehow. I would steer clear of their camp which is located at the north east corner.
EDIT: Working theory confirmed to be accurate on two accounts. Happy hunting!

TL;DR
- Don't touch the relics
- Ignore the Cumans to the north east
- Wipe out all enemies (target villagers, otherwise they'll set up satellite bases)

A moment before completing the mission for the last time I got a voice line congratulating me for capturing the relics for the HRE. I of course hadn't captured a single one, but I did get the achievement so...I'll take it.

Tried this once with collecting all the relics and taking them out, then not picking them up at all, and finally totally ignored the Cumans.

Can also confirm Cumans void the achievement for whatever reason.

Can confirm you are able to cap 3/4 relics, however if you have anything to do with the Cumans you will void the achievement,

I got this last night. i didn't pick up any relics and I made contact with the Cumans (impossible not to when you have to clean up the remnants of every faction on the map), but I did not tribute gold to them to buy their mercenaries.

I did not get it the first time because I hired the Cumans. I tried with "Restart the Mission" without recruiting the Cumans and still did not get the achievement, will this be voided forever because I recruited them the first time??!

Update: I quit the game after finishing the first mission and restarted AOEII. When going to the Barbarossa campaign the second mission has now disappeared indicating my win might not have registered after my second play-through. I'll try again tomorrow because at the moment I'm sick of scouting the map for scattered survivors.

I can confirm that as log as you dont pay the cumans any gold you can still get this even if you have uncovered them

I paid the cumans, wipe cyan, blue, purple and orange with his troops along with the ones I started with. After defeating yellow and green, the cheevo popped normally

Paying the cumans really helps to win faster

So Yatsui got the achievement by paying the Cumins, but the guide says don't?

Edit - Uncovered the Cumans, didn't pay them.

I destroyed every unit the enemy had and they still wouldn't resign. How do you get them all to resign? I did not miss anyone

If you can't find an enemy unit you can buy spies at a castle to reveal the entire map. This doesn't cause the Cumans to trigger so you can still avoid them if that is what you're going for.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (PC) - Achievement - Furor Teutonicus

Defeat all opponents instead of collecting the required Relics in the first Barbarossa mission "Holy Roman Emperor".

As of this video being uploaded (17th November 2019, game version: 101.101.32911.0 4395365), there appear to be some bugs with this achievement. Many people are reporting the achievement not triggering, however whether or not the achievement triggers appears to relate to your interaction with the Cumans (Grey). They are a band of mercenaries that you can buy for 200 gold at the far right of the map. When I got this achievement, I didn't buy them or kill them and simply had no interaction with them whatsoever other than discovering their presence. Some people are mentioning that if you buy them or kill them, it can stop the achievement triggering, but this is hopefully something the Age of Empires team will fix in the near future.

UPDATE: The December 17th 2019 update has fixed many issues relating to achievements. This should no longer be bugged.

.
So this isn't a guide. It's a report log of how buggy the achievement was 4 years ago, not the current Xbox version, which recently released.

In summary, follow the achievement description.

During the first Barbarossa mission your mission is to collect the Relics, instead ignore them completely, do not touch the relics at all. Instead build a large army and go out to kill every enemy. Obviously best to do this on easy difficulty.

Bohemia can actually become a hard enemy but has no army at the start so you will want to attack them immediately. They are located in the northeast and can be defeated using your starting army. It is also relatively easy to defend your island you start on as there are only four ways to it.
