How to unlock the Iron Maid achievement in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

A few tips on this:
1. Cheat codes are NOT allowed for achievements in AoE2:DE. If you do use them you'll receive a notification after the game is over when you reach the statistics page. This means that all campaign missions have to be played legit. This is different from AoE 1: DE in which you can use cheats to win the game, but what is the fun in that?

2. You can and should play the campaign missions on the easiest difficulty - Standard - which will make the game easier so you will be able to complete the missions.

Missions, on these external sites they also show a map so you know where to go:

Hey, i need some help here. I have the Steam version of the Game but logged in with my Xbox account in-game. I finished the Joan campaign and the achievement popped on Steam but not on Xbox. I also unlucked 2 other achievements on the way but didn't popped either. I realised i was playing offline while getting those achievements so I went online again and played through the whole campaign again, but none of those three achievements popped. I Logged out and In with my Xbox account, played the campaign again, and nothing. Other achievements dont have this issue, as I was able to unlock many others since then. Is there a way to fix this?

Same problem here. As with the first campaign. These are really bugged. But the 1st one eventually popped after a new uodate and playing random games.

I believe there might be some issue with the Maid of Orleans mission.
Trade Carts are losing their load when entering transport ships and cannot be used to complete the objective right now. They also can’t be delivered to the Town Centre or marked area just slightly north of it. I’ve spent a good 4 hours reloading and trying different methods, Reddit and YouTube tutorials for it but it’s likely just broken for the time being unless I’m being a complete plank and missing something

Update:
So it’s only worked when
- You manually fill up the Trade Carts. (Despite the empty visual of the carts looking empty).
- Joan and the Trade Carts enter as a group of 7.
- They must enter from the most northern gate.
- Joan entering the Town Square is complete.
- Then using “X” to mark a path as a group of 7 through the Town Centre then granted the tribute.

Jesus, that was more effort than a Rubix Cube.

Over 60 restarts later.

Final comment for mission 2 (sorry!)
Save yourselves the hassle, once you have delivered the Trade Cart
You can farm up in the north west for a bit, stay in the feudal age, keep some towers to watch over your farmers, build up some supplies then once you’re ready to go to the Castle Age. Take about 5 villagers to the castle English castle south east of the map. Have the villagers and your army ready there for when you’re about to enter the Castle Age.
Drop a siege workshop (battering rams) and a castle at the same time. Garrison the army and spam a few rams to make an access and get the castle, let the rams do the work, trade resources as needed and beware of the brits getting too close to your castle. Certainly the easier strategy to go for!

I maybe blessed, but I haven't had any issue with unlocking achievements in any AOE game so far. Maybe talk to someone at Microsoft, just get all other achievements first. And hopefully they'll be able to delete your cloud save. Then just get the last achievements which are bugged for you.

7 Feb 2023 (Xbox Version)
.

Suggesting not to cheat and to play on easiest difficulty does NOT help. That's obvious.

Strategy tips for individual levels would be more of a guide.
The last level, A PERFECT MARTYR, takes timing, not just storing resources, building an army, then attacking. More relevant "guidance" would be nice.

I've approached A PERFECT MARTYR quickly, taking my time, and attacking across the river and I'm always overwhelmed. Any advice? (other than, "keep trying" or "learn to play the game").

UPDATE: 8 Feb 2023 Achievement unlocked.
For the final mission, take over the first area by keeping your distance and using trebuchets on the castle and town center. Then build a mine for that stone immediately.
Start chopping wood immediately, then a windmill with farms. Build your own town center asap.
WOOD & FOOD are crucial for building the cheapest army here because gold is lacking. Keep pumping out soldiers that use only WOOD & FOOD to train.
Eventually, upgrade what you can until you get a market. Build everything else, and upgrade. Sell mostly food, then wood. Food is infinite.
Attack the northern army first. Then the big army southeast after your base is fortified. Takes a while, but fun.

(Lebron James just became the all-time NBA scoring leader tonight. EST.)

*Story related and can't be missed

Joan of Arc was the second campaign of the original Age of Empires 2 and the difficulty is somewhat greater than that of the William Wallace campaign. There are six levels in total and it is recommended that you save periodically as you go through each mission as some can take quite some time. Upon completing all six levels the achievement will unlock.

Some tips for the missions:

  • Level 2 - you can actually take you cavalry to Burgundys base in the east at the start and take them out as they don't have much military
  • Level 3 - Cross the river as far south as possible then build your base, you will want to quickly attack Fastolfs Army who are in the far east of the map with your main army.
  • Level 4 - Focus on the town centres, each enemy will be defeated once the town centre is destroyed.
  • Level 5 - Don't waste time destroying every building, Once you cross the river, head northeast and break through the wall there rather than the gates and you can avoid a battle.
  • Level 6 - Dont destory the purple walls at the start, just kill their men to capture the base to use as your own.
