How to unlock the Italy Jones and the First Crusade achievement in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

The easiest method for this and for beating the whole level is to immediately start creating Arbalesters and research all upgrades for them. In order to do this you should put almost all villagers to wood and order some to get food for upgrades (also needed for Crossbowman and Arbalester upgrades). I trained 60 Arbalesters but I believe you can do this also with less than that.

The next step is to exit through the southwestern gate with Arbalesters and make your way to the leftmost corner of the map (first go over the bridge in front of the gate). When you get there, follow the side of the map north until you see Kerbogha's three horse archers. You can kill them one by one and then walk a bit more to the north. Kerbogha should be positioned to the right of the big tent. Dodge and shoot the mangonels and then you can easily kill Kerbogha with just a few shots. You'll win the scenario instantly even though killing Kerbogha wasn't yet an objective. I did this on Hard and there was not real difference to easier difficulties with this method. For me this took 7-8 minutes in real time.

The siege presumably starts before you get to Kerbogha but they really don't have time to destroy your castles. I took my heroes with me to deal with the mangonels but safest bet would be to leave them in the fortress if you want this achievement.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (PC) - Achievement - Italy Jones and the First Crusade

Do not lose a hero in the fourth Hautevilles mission "Bohemond in the East".

This mission can be a little overwhelming to begin with. You start with a large walled city that is soon besieged by several waves of invaders. You begin with hero units scattered around your perimeter. To be safe, I immediately gathered them and moved them to the centre of the city and ordered them to stand ground. This takes them out of the equation completely unless you you allow the enemy to reach that for into your city.
There is an optional mission to destroy Ahmed iba Marwans (Green) garrison. If you choose to do this, it allows you to explore a little south-east revealing small amounts of gold and stone. Alternatively, you can use your market to obtain the resources you need.
Just survive the waves or make a charge to Kerbogha and kill him to complete the mission. Garrisoned Donjons are quite useful in defending your city with.

This mission sees you sieged upon by a huge force across multiple angles of your base.

Your 6 heroes are spread about near the gates (and have a glow on them), so quickly stick them in a castle out of the way.

You don't have many resources, and limited villagers with no way to create more, so you'll have to be economic with your army. The enemy largely uses Cavalry archers, Steppe Lancers, Camels, and catapults, and I found a decent defence with skirmishers, halberdiers, and cavaliers.

Just keep replenishing, and you'll get occasions to repair your base and put up castles with the interim periods where the enemy 'retreats' to regroup. I only ever used the heroes once, when rams were approaching the castle, but I hid them away afterwards.

4th mission in the Sicilian campaign.
You need to withstand all attacks or find the spear of fate.
There are 6 heroes in total, riders in each direction. Take them and take them to the center of the base to the castle and give the command “hold position” so that they do not run away. This is necessary to obtain the achievement. (Heroes must survive)
Next, start building crossbowmen, improve them in the forge, university, and shooting range. We need 40-60 crossbowmen. While you are gathering shooters, the first attack will most likely already come, fight back. Next, we take the crossbowmen and go through the southwestern passage and begin to move north (top) along the left edge of the map. We cross the river, we will see a tower (do not attack it). You need to run to the upper left corner. Then we begin to move to the center of the map at the very top, we go until we see the tents. We carefully begin to lure out the enemy's cavalry, paying maximum attention to the onagers. A squad of riflemen must deal with everyone with one salvo. Our main target is the enemy hero, the Turkish Khan Kerbogha. As soon as we kill him, it turns out that he had the spear of fate. After this, the mission ends.

It's true about gathering all the heroes closer to the center of the base. But there is no point in organizing some kind of rush.
The main thing in the mission is to build one castle near each gate, except perhaps the southern one, and farm guards for them, preferably from crossbowmen. Further, the location of the khan with the spear will become clear as the plot progresses. Not far away, just to the left of the base. Yes, there are a lot of enemies there, which will take a lot of time and resources to kill. But in fact, there is a simple solution, which appears again during the course of the plot, and is displayed in the list of tasks as a side. You need to study Faith in any church to strengthen all your units for about 9 minutes. And this is quite enough to get through to the khan with a spear, even during an attack by the Turks. After all, the gain is extremely powerful, it feels like 10 times the standard stats. Therefore, having recruited about 60 units (shooters plus cavalry and a couple of monks), we move west, gradually clearing the way with attacks and regroupings. 9 minutes should be enough. I passed it the first time, playing on medium.
