How to unlock the The Go-Getter achievement in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

I managed this with 22 seconds to spare so time is tight. Work fast! Keyboard shortcuts for unit production are a must.

With four of your first villagers build a second town centre up near the quarry at the north west of your base. Immediately put them on the stone. Use both to then pump out villagers, 40-50 total. Again focus on stone, you want to amass enough for 3 castles. At the same time you want 15 farms or so (use your starting units to scout for sheep first). Will need log collection too for these.

Send some villagers (3-4) to produce castles to the left and right of the bridge on your side. Once built start attracting their forces over to your side with your Mangudai. The castles will rip them apart. Take out any trebuchets with your Mangudai as needed.

You then want the Elite Mangudai upgrade as a priority. Get your previous stone collectors on gold. Then produce 4-5 trebuchets and max produce Mangudai from all castles. You should have many of their units killed by the castles now, keep leading them over the bridge. Start to creep forward with your trebuchets to take out any nearby towers, the castle and the gates. Use Mangudai to defend them and take out any other units.

Bring a group of villagers over the bridge and build another castle. Once this is built you're pretty much good. You want to do this with 10-15 minutes remaining to be safe. Keep mass producing Mangudai and steamroll through forces. Ensure your trebuchets are targeting castles and towncentres only at this point, scout ahead to find them ignoring remaining towers.

This is a hard achievement but is won as soon as the first objective is fulfilled. Keep at it, must have tried half a dozen different tactics but this worked the best. I slacked on the Mangudai production and could have shaved off another 5 minutes if I had kept this up.

Let me know how you get on!

thumbs up, I made my 5 trebuchets around 20 minutes left and started moving forward into the Hungarian base after that with 15-20 mangudai protecting them, building more mangudai as the wood and gold came in (keep your castles on a hotkey and the shift+Q to build 5 mangudai at once)

after the initial enemy army was dead they made a TON of skirmishers, but I hadn't attacked yet so I just pulled them into the castles, after that they juggled a couple monks trying to convert units, scorpions, paladins, trebuchets, and scouts

basically after 20 minutes though about 90% of your attention should be on your trebuchets and your attacking forces, making sure the trebuchets are packing up and moving forward and using the mangudai to take out the troublesome enemy trebuchets or paladins.

i finished with 7 minutes on the clock to confirm Eliphelet77's timing if you stay on top of unit creation -> more mangudai = enemy units die way faster and you lose less units to hit point attrition during the fighting

The key thing to remember is you only have to destroy the two enemy town centres to get the achievement.

So after knocking down the initial towers, castles and gates with your Treb/Elite Mangudai army just run 5 of your starting Saboteurs into each town centre. This way I got the achievement with like four minutes to spare. wink

Actually you have to destroy just the two own centres AND the two castles.

I would also add to put Mangudai you have defending your seige weapons on "stand ground" mode in the command box. It means that they won't start running off in random directions to attack things but will still fire at the enemy when near. Just remember to move them manually.

Great solution, did this first time last night with at least 4 minutes to spare. Only used 4 trebs and did not build a castle on Hungarian side of the bridge or use Saboteurs at all. Key is just constantly mass producing Mangudai (definitely one of the most OP unique units) with rally point moving to reinforce your existing stack, and pushing aggressively. Sell off excess stone and all food if need be to keep the castles churning out Mangudai and you're good.

I had 6 minutes and 17 seconds left, but am playing on standard difficulty since there is no requirement to play on hard.

Am I the only one that loves using max upgraded rams with the "drills" technology researched that gives them 50% extra speed? Normally I'm definitely a trebs guy but the speed bonus on rams makes them really useful and I found them super good here

Have 7min left, I suggest you to use cheat code Marco and Polo to see the design of the ennemy base, and then restart the mission

1. Initial
Send your five initial builders straight to the stone.
Build villagers to get wood and food (sheeps then farms).
Once you have enough stone for a castle, build one on your side of the bridge.
Get some villagers mining gold now.

2. Your side of the bridge
Once the castle is built, Use your horse archers to draw their army into your newly built castle.
Send your saboteurs over to delete the two keeps on their side of the bridge.
All whilst building trebuchets and camels (RESEARCH HEAVY CAMELS ONCE YOU HAVE 4 TREBUCHETS).

3. Hungarian side of the bridge
Once their army has been cleared outside their gates and you have no agro, build a castle on their side of the bridge, just out of range of their castle.
Build a stable for camels next to this forward castle.
Once this is built use your saboteurs to destroy their gates, then move your trebuchets in to destroy their castle and two keeps that are by the destroyed gates.

4. Hungarian Base
Now use your 5+ trebuchets to destroy the the castle inside the base whilst using your heavy camels to defeat all enemies, and then take out the town centres on either side. (I like to leave a camel or two at their monastery to get rid of those pesky monks.)
[Finished it with 5:56 to spare.]

I have made a quick video guide, I had 5 minuets left on the clock after I had defeated them.

The most important thing for this mission is to have a strong eco. I would suggest building a second TC straight away at the beginning of the game.

Sending in the saboteurs to take out the starting army and put pressure on the towers helped.

I then used a forward castle and stables as a base to train more units.

Trebs and Mang were the best combo. Try to use high ground to your advantage and fully upgrade your units.

A good old fashioned 1v1 siege battle. Can't go wrong with that!
As always reveal the map by using "marco" & "polo" cheats, or by using resign > return to map method. You'll of course have to restart afterwards.
Strategy tips:
- Use the first 20 min (in game) to get your economy booming. When in doubt, train more Villagers!
- Hungarians field Medium & Heavy Cav with some Scorpion and Skirmisher support (countering Cav Archers). Surprise them by massing Champions.
- Supplement with Siege Rams. The Mongols' unique +50% move speed tech is a must-have!
- During the initial big battle at the bridgehead, send your Saboteurs into the big crowd that pours out of the gates. Time this maneuver right and it'll swing the fight your way!
- Remember to keep a steady supply of reinforcements coming as you push into their base.

Initially I thought Pikes would do well against all that enemy Cav, but they're too squishy to withstand the incoming arrow fire from the Towers, Castles and whatnot. Champions stay in the fight longer and perform decently vs buildings, so they can fill in for Rams in a pinch.

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (PC) - Achievement - The Go-Getter

Defeat the Hungarians before Subotai has arrived in the sixth Genghis Khan mission "Pax Mongolica".

Time is of the essence again in this achievement. In this video, I build a second Town Centre early on to boost Villager production and get resource production in order. You may also want to focus on upgrading and producing one or two specific units. In this video, I focus on using Mangodai. A few Trebuchets won't go amiss either.
If you upgrade Mangonels to Onagers, then they will have the ability to destroy trees so it will be helpful to have one of these as I believe destroying trees will provide you with the best route to reach the structures that need destroying (2 x Castles and 2 x Town Centres).
Initially it appears the map is divided by a frozen river separating you from your foe and only one bridge connecting you, however if you follow the river all the way to the opposite of your starting end, you will see it has frozen over to the point in which you are able to cross, which leads to a wooded alcove with gold and stone. Using your Onager, you can destroy some of the trees and attack the Hungarian forces from the side. There is also a Castle and a Town Centre close to where you emerge in their base. All you need to do is use your siege units to destroy the buildings and protect them with your standing army as they push forward and eventually get to the remaining Castle and Town Centre. You also start with 10 x Saboteurs. 5 Saboteurs will destroy a Town Centre so remember to use these to your advantage as well.

I followed Apache117X's guide, and got the achievement with 8 minutes remaining. So, follow that guide, with the following important changes & coveats:

1) no need to mine more than 650. you're only going to build 1 castle.
2) no need to build university. you already have murder holes.
3) build houses to handle 100 population.
4) you'll need ~40 villagers working.
5) use pause. F3. constantly. every click, every mouse move, do it pause on. only unpause to progress the game.
6) the only thing Apache117X didnt do perfect was placing of the castle. instead: keep your 2-3 trebs on your land. have 15-20 mags on the bridge waiting. start building the castle on their land and THEY WONT ATTACK while you build it. once it's built, garrison all villagers, bring in the mags off the bridge to support the castle, and attack the towers and castle with the trebs. Then, take out the gate with 3 bomb-guys, and the remaining 1 castle and 2 TCs will be wiped in 10 mins with your mags and trebs.

To defeat the Hungarians you must only destroy their two castles and two town centres. Do this before the 40-minute mark when Subotai arrives.

You'll want to boom your economy quickly as always. Then, build at least one castle by the bridge. Build a mix of Camels and Mangudai and lure as many of the enemies over the bridge into your castle early on. You'll want about five trebuchets, once you've cleared out some enemies take your army and attack the first enemy castle. You'll probably want to build another castle on the other side of the bridge. Move forward and quickly break open the gates and take out the second castle, then take half your Saboteurs to each town centre (one to the south and one to north west of their main gate) and quickly destroy it to end the mission.
