The tutorial will begin automatically when you first launch the game. In my experience it takes around 30 minutes to complete.
If you have played previous AoE games then the mechanics will be very familiar to you, however there are some new features which have been added and I found it useful to learn these before jumping into the main campaign/multiplayer.
One tip I would give is to make sure you have a good amount of villagers collecting wood and food as you need to produce various military units throughout the tutorial and having ample resources will speed up this process.
Gold was not needed as much, therefore I would recommend assigning only 1 villager to mining gold.

I completed the tutorial, but didn't get the achievement.

crashes about a minute into me playing it. rest of the game runs fine. I don't know if anybody else is having this issue.
