How to unlock the The Normans achievement in Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition - Definitive Guide

The Norman campaign features 10 various missions where you will play as the English/Normans. To unlock this achievement you will need to beat them all on any difficulty. The 10 missions include the following:

1. 1066 The Battle of Hastings
2. 1069 North to York
3. 1105 The Fall of Bayeux
4. 1106 The Battle of Tinchebray
5. 1119 The Battle of Bremule
6. 1141 First Battle of Lincoln
7. 1153 The Siege of Wallingford
8. 1216 The Siege of Dover
9. 1215 The Siege of Rochester
10. 1217 Second Battle of Lincoln

After you go past the victory screen on mission 10 the achievement should unlock.

Make sure to acquire the English based achievements during this campaign such as:

Counter-Raider (Loot the Danish War camp during the North to York mission)
Mission 2
We Charge Extra for that (Shutdown a Cavalry Charge with Palings as the English)
Mission 3 or later
Chivalry (Enlist the aid of 45 Knights during the Battle of Tinchebray) Mission 4
Pass the Marshmallows (Use the Setup Camp ability 20 times as the English)
Dread Fort (Kill 100 enemies with Keeps as the English)

There is another achievement for the English but that requires playing them in skirmish/online/etc.

Master of the English (Complete the English Mastery)

Hope this guide helps. Cheers

That's weird. Have you unlocked any other since then? I've had issues with achievements unlocking in windows. Could be a glitch. Maybe try playing the last mission again. I played it on easy too so difficulty definitely isn't a problem.

Hmm did you press continue after beating mission 10? I’ve had some achievements not unlock unless I press continue instead of quit at the summary page. Let me know if that helps.

Hmm are you 100% you have completed all the missions? For some campaigns a few missions unlocked for me even without beating the previous one. Check to see if the extra content (cinematics/live footage) is unlocked. They usually only unlock after completing a mission. Otherwise Im not sure how else I can help you. A lot of the achievements for AoE4 seem to bug out randomly.

Beat every mission, no Achievement.

Have you loaded any saves? A lot of users are saying that loading a previous save has prevented achievements from unlocking.

@Jagd Gray Wolf

Yep, that solved it. Restarted the final mission (which I had resumed from a Saved Game) and completed it, and achievement popped.

It's really too bad. The game is really, really fun! If I wasn't an achievement hunter also then it wouldn't be a big deal. Oh well, such is life!

I'd also like to add that restarting the last mission and completing it one sitting did the trick for me.

This one glitched for me too. Had to redo the last mission and wait until the Normandy video afterward was almost complete (don't skip!).

Campaign The Normans, The Battle of Tincherbray.

And yeah it’s 25 knights on XBox but the solution is still the same, but twice for 500 and the cavalry once for 300. It doesn’t seem to matter if a Knight dies along the way, just that you recruited them.

Is this game not co op? All the achievement flags say campaign achievements can be done co op?

I think co-op in terms of playing with another player in the same match. But I am not sure why the single player achievements from the campaign have the co-op flags. Weird.

Maybe one of the missions wasnt recognized as completed. Try replaying some of the missions. It could pop then.

This just popped for me after doing a skirmish 1v1 against computer. I actually just surrendered after about 2-3 minutes. This common?

Hmm did you complete the Norman campaign prior? Or did it just pop randomly? Ive had delayed achievements pop a bit later on than usual. Weird still.

I've barely touched the game. It's been a bit since I started but I haven't made it much further than the tutorial.

A lot of the achievements are messed up. This unlocked for me after the 1st or 2nd tutorial mission.

Yeah saves seem to be messing things up. Loading a save doesn't let me get an achievement for that mission. Now which mission did I load up out of the ten for this? Ugh, gotta replay them all to find out.

@ProGameTalk: I know the feeling luckily I didn't have any issue with this achievement and I did use saves and also did load the game when I made a mistake.

I did watch every video and read every article no idea if that matters. On the end screen where you can press continue or quit: while watching: The Norman Legacy, I received the achievement. No idea if you have to watch and or read through everything.

Maybe wait on the screen for the achievement to pop?

''The Normans'' campaign consists of 10 missions, you can play at any difficulty to unlock the achievement. The hardest missions for this campaign are ''First Battle Of Lincoln'' and ''The Siege Of Wallingford'' because your tech level is low, your gold is limited (the marketplace is crucial to obtain gold at a certain point) and the enemy harassement is endless. I included videos for every mission of this campaign on hard difficulty to give you an idea how to beat them quickly and effectively. IMO, the best units to produce ASAP are the ''Mangonel'' and the ''Long Bow Archers''. Using these units mixed with some good micros will make things a lot easier when you face large armies and siege the enemy base.

The Normans Campaign (Longplay):

1066: The Battle Of Hastings:

1069: North To York:

1105: The Fall Of Bayeux:

1106: The Battle Of Tinchebray:

1119: The Battle Of Brémule:

1141: First Battle Of Lincoln:

1153: The Siege Of Wallingford:

1216: The Siege Of Dover:

1215: The Siege Of Rochester:

1217: Second Battle Of Lincoln:
