Age of Wonders: Planetfall

You need to unlock Orbital Relays through the society tech tree before you can build them in your colony. They enhance the sector by adding a population slot to all resources. Limit one Orbital Relay per colony. Forward bases can be enhanced to Orbital Bases through an additional research in the tech tree. These take 3 turns to make as well as costing gold and cosmite both to create and to maintain. Once you have two (two relays, two orbital bases, or one of each) simply send a unit through. The game will auto-path units through them, otherwise move a unit onto the relay and a prompt will come up giving you the option to send the unit. A relay can only be used once per turn, but they become extremely helpful in moving long distances later in some of the large campaign maps.
