I am pretty sure this is story related and not missable...
Chapter 3-Ishtar Gate
Midway through the chapter, you will cross a weird melting bridge and enter the Ishtar Gate. There will be a cut-scene introducing the giant chort. You will be chased into a small room. Use the torch in the room to burn the bushes and then follow the winding path up ahead. At the end will be a room on the left where you can exit your body. Fly your soul to the giant chort and let the magic happen.
