So when you travel through the whirlpool that is half way to new haven to where the two pirate ships are that you have to defeat, the island with the power plant and an upgraded factory. You will have to repair the power plant and restore power, and lay some power lines/cables to connect the factory. Once you do this you can build stuff here and one of the options is to build a worker bot of several types. I chose to build a miner bot, but having done so I would suggest a farmer bot as the miner is rather worthless imho.
