How to unlock the Wyrmslayer achievement in Aground - Definitive Guide
Wyrms are worm-looking creatures with large maws that travel underground.
The AI of these creatures tend to simple. They move forward until they hit an ore, then will try to dig up or down before going forward again. If you are in front of their mouth, they will try to attack you. If you are one square in front of them, but above or below by several blocks, they will rise or lower to meet you. If dirt is in the way to do that, they will chew through it (again, ores are left alone). If you are on top of or behind them, they will ignore you and go forward.
Thus, killing one generally follows this way: get yourself a decent weapon, such as a steel sword. Make some healing items (meat, steaks) to heal up in case it takes a while to get your combat rhythm down. Find a wyrm tunnel underground (again, they tend to go in a straight line left/right, unless there was ore in the way). Make yourself some vertical space, 3x3 is plenty. Get behind the worm and attack it; attacks from behind to do double damage (getting past its natural armor). It will turn around to follow and attack you. Retreat to the open space, going up/down so that you're a short distance away. When it gets close, it will move vertically to meet you. Move forward on/past the wyrm's horizontal location. This will prevent it from attacking you, and it will then move forward again. You can then get another free back attack on it, before repeating the process until it is dead and you earn the Wyrmslayer achievement.
Upon slaying a wyrm, it will drop dragonblood. This material is used in a few quests, in making several important stat-raising potions, and can be eaten/drank for +100 points to both your health and stamina. It becomes useful to hunt down wyrms for dragonblood. Additionally, a later quest will have you capturing wyrms for the alchemist, who will then create a special pen that will allow you to harvest dragonblood just as you would food and materials from farms and pens.
