After completion of the regular game objectives you will be tasked with venturing into a Northern ice region. The main task of this region is to rescue 12 groups of stranded explorers, n.b. each group is of 3-5 people who will take up housing capacity in your kingdom when you rescue them.
Once you have rescued all 12 groups and returned them to the settlement at the Southern part of the region this achievement will pop.

You should add that in the lost tundra, the game mechanism reduces resource output, life and propulsion capacity quite fast the further north the kingdom travels, so surplus of all of these, or accomplishing it early game is the best approach. Bring food and water as the only resources in abudance is lumber.
