How to unlock the Stronger achievement in Akinofa - Definitive Guide

Cheapest item costs $100. However, the upgrade must be bought at the game over screen where it tally’s your score, coins, and then gives you the option of buying an upgrade. Buying from the main menu -> upgrades, will not give you the achievement.

I have 36 coins at the end and ammo upgrade is only 30. I’ve pressed every button and it won’t let me buy it, why?
