How to unlock the Collector's Edition achievement in Alan Wake - Definitive Guide

For those who prefer visuals, I found this "All The Nightmare Pages" on youtube (which you would have found yourself anyways).

For the episode 4 page "The Anderson Farm" - I couldn't tell where it was from the video. So here's some help - after you drop down into the field where the stage is, right after the light/checkpoint - take a left instead of going right towards the stage.

I made a checklist for all the collectable items, including Manuscripts, to keep track of my progress.

It is shared here: Google Docs - Alan Wake

Download a copy and just check the items off as you find them.

Your checklist is AWESOME!!! I got 800GS on my first playthrough thanks to you. Spoiler-free, yet precise in location explanations, it was perfect. Thank you!

Right now I'm about to finish my first playthrough on normal but I've missed a few pages so I can't get the achievement. When I replay the game will I still need to get EVERY page, or just the ones I'm missing from the first playthrough?

All sources are credited, with links to the original work, in each of the checklists I make. I take other peoples' work and do some more work on top make a guide that works for me, and then I share that result with everyone else, asking nothing in return -- if only I spent my time trolling comments like you instead, just think how much I could contribute back to the community then!

If you are working towards this achievement, you might have already followed a guide. If you haven't, you'll need to go back for the 91 original manuscript pages anyway. Realistically, you cannot follow a video guide or individual item type list for your "collectibles" run through this game.

Tyger7 has a great walkthrough available in a zipped doc here: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23...
I recommend using Dropbox or email to send this doc to your iPad/mobile device, so you can play in the dark!

Specifically for these pages, they're mostly in plain sight. I do recommend keeping a guide near, though. There are 15 pages only available in nightmare mode (for a total of 106).

just negative for the solution, it tries to be complete and guess was a lot of work, but it's full of mistakes, unclear info, missing words, typos, i had to play 2 times more because of the faults in this guide. and believe me this game is shit on nightmare, very very frustrating not fun at all

Jeez man—I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. It did work for me the first time through though, and as far as I can tell, this specific aggregated guide is the best method for getting through the achievements on the first run. If you find a better method, I'd certainly be interested, but I still think this is better than the plain list of the manuscript pages, no?

I did fix the typos with a spell check. Obviously writing that much with how fast I type will result in some errors. I am baffled that you had a hard time following it. I have had over 150 thousand views and over 450 comments. None of which have had your opinion.

The other solutions cover the manuscript locations but I figured I'd add some helpful tips.

Being that you have to beat the game once to unlock Nightmare difficulty, you might as well play your first play through on Normal (Not Hard) difficulty and grab all the manuscripts. It is a lot easier on Normal difficulty to grab manuscripts while ignoring fights since the enemies deal a lot less damage.

When playing your second play through on Nightmare difficulty, you do not need to grab the manuscripts you've already grabbed on your first play through. This makes Nightmare difficulty much easier since you can simply aim for chests to grab more weapons and ammo. You can even skip the chests if you're good at avoiding fights. There are only a few manuscripts that you actually have to grab on Nightmare difficulty which makes your Nightmare play through a lot faster and easier.

There are certain manuscript pages that are only available in Nightmare mode. There are only a handful per chapter, but you need to complete the game on Normal or Hard first to unlock this mode. For the guide on where to find these, check this thread out here.
