How to unlock the Heartbreaker achievement in Alan Wake - Definitive Guide

EDIT: It is possible to miss this achievement by leaving the room mentioned below without listening to Hartman or the tape recorder. Make sure you listen to everything!

As you approach the lighthouse you will eventually re-enter a part of the Cauldron Lake Lodge, where you will find Hartman and a projection of Alan (with a TV for a head) conversing. Listen to their conversation, and then activate the tape recorder when prompted. After the rather...depressing scene is over, exit the room and Alan will begin talking, at which point this achievement will unlock.

I think it *may* be possible to miss this one. I know that at least on subsequent playthroughs you can just go toward the exit sign in Hartman's office to skip the scene, and I would assume that might null the achievement if you hadn't earned it yet. Just a guess though.

Thanks, I just read elsewhere that some people have actually missed this achievement, so I've changed the description a little.

Same, I had no idea I was supposed to listen to the whole conversation. I just went out the exit after 30 seconds or so.

This is part of The Writer DLC.

It's possible to skip this achievement. You will come to a scene where Dr. Hartman is talking to you, and after a long conversation you must press the recorder nearby. Once it ends, the lights will turn on. Remember to stay until the conversation has ended, otherwise the achievement will not unlock.

You will get to a scene where Dr. Hartman is talking to you as a memory. After a long conversation, you must press on the recorder nearby and listen. Once it ends, the lights will turn on. Continue on and as Alan talks, the achievement will unlock.

Note: It's possible to skip this and continue on, so remember to stay until the conversation has ended and you have listened to the recorder before leaving.
