IXEpIcRaNdOmXI's strategy is the best, especially if you missed out on your first play through (like me!) and want to get the remaining kills you need. So, to piggy back on EpicRandom's, the earliest opportunity is in the tutorial after the very first red emergency box; in it should be a flare gun with 3 flares.

Drop down and use it on the 3 Taken, then go forward a few feet til the one crawls over the rock. You can take him out now or run back to trigger another enemy (maybe 2 more? I can't remember), then hang around in the grassy area until another group of Hitchhikers come, take THEM out, then run off the cliff face and die, reload the checkpoint and do it again.

Easy way to do it if you want it fast. if you get a flare gun at anypoint in the game, dont use it till you get to a checkpoint.

as soon at some come in contact with the taken, take out as meany as possible and then load last checkpoint, kills still get counted.

rince and repeat.

With the following method you can get nearly all of the weapon achievements in the game:

During Episode 3-2 when you are at the Coal Mine Museum, a short way into the level you will walk through a door and enter a building into a long hallway. Three Taken will drop from the ceiling and another will walk in from the left at the same time. Fire the flare gun at the group and you will get all four of them every time. This will also get you the achievement for killing four taken with a single flare gun round, if you don't have it yet. Now reload the checkpoint. You will be right outside the door again. Walk back into the hallway, wait for them to drop and fire another flare at them. Rinse and repeat to get all fifty.

You can use the same technique to get all of the flashbang kills here. Also, there are a couple of explosive canisters right where the Taken drop down, so you can get your Indirect kills here as well. This is also a great place to get the shotgun/hunting rifle achievement, depending on which one you are carrying.

In episode 3, when you have to cross the mountain ruins, there is a house you have to go through. you have to get to the top but the ground falls underneath you and you're surrounded by Taken. Since there's a hidden chest with a flare gun before this, use it and you can get 5-7 kills in this room. Restart the checkpoint until you get 50
