How to unlock the Royal Approach achievement in Alice: Madness Returns - Definitive Guide

Story-Related: Can't be missed. Unlocks in the loading screen for the following stage: Queensland.

Queen-of-Heartsland is the eighth area of the game--and you can be damn-sure that its all ridiculously easy compared to that Jabberwocky battle! This level is fairly long.

Walkthrough Tips: Spoilers ahead

Majestic Maze--the maze itself isn't too difficult to navigate--at the end, you can easily solve the gated portal puzzle by using the ice wand's secondary ability (y) on the pressure-switch to your immediate left.

Airbourne Terror--easy stage--there are a LOT of screamer ghosts, so be ready to dispatch one or two whenever you land--use the ice wand for easy kills.

Mystifying Madness--back to the hedge maze. There will be a LOT of enemies and they will always all come at you at once--from both in front AND from spawning behind you--whenever you enter a new section of the maze. By now you should be transitioning to using mostly your jacks as your combat weapon so the best tip is to throw the jacks at a foe, then retreat around a corner till you can throw them again. At some point you will need to jump into a square hole and go underwater to get to another part of the level--but I never REALLY got lost after I figured this out.

Water-Logged--This level only features those fish-monsters as enemies so you can tell its a swimming level. You will need to raise the water level three times by standing on three different (easily identifiable) platforms (they look like gondolas almost). Each time, the water will raise enough to grant you access to one of three cylinders that had been previously sealed--and each one takes you right up to the next. Use bubbles for breathing and kill those damn fish!

Labyrinthine Revenge--Nothing much to this stage--some platforming and fighting. Do it how you know to do it, I can't help you here--just save often because you may end up jumping back to the start by falling off the platform at some point (like I did).

Machinations--This is probably my favorite stage in the game because of the jumping puzzles. There are three rooms and this is the hardest platforming section in the game but there are no enemies so enjoy the nice relaxing stroll to the Queen's lair--and another 10G!

This is the 7th area you visit, (again the 6th area is trophy-less) and it consists of many frustrating mazes, the enemies here get significantly harder and there is some underwater stuff to be done. Oh joy. You will get this trophy after completing it.

Bosses You Will face Before Getting This Trophy:

The Jabberwock, Part 1

No more easy boss battles! Yay!

This battle is actually more of a farce, as you don't have to win it, you just have to survive. Just throw jacks at the big guy until he summons a little minion, then take that minion out however you prefer, he will then summon a second minion, take that one out too, and then the Griffin will appear and rip the ugly mother's eye out, giving you the final piece to the eye staff. Congrats.

The Jabberwock, Part 2

Take some Tylenol before this battle, you're gonna need it. Even on easy this battle is extremely frustrating and the bosses' fire attacks can take down a considerable amount of health. I hope you picked up the Blunderbuss, I was unlucky and somehow missed it. It will help you considerably. But if you're like me and have ADD, then you may have to do like I did and settle for the jacks. It took forever but it worked. Just run like hell and try your hardest to avoid the fire as best as you can. There’s no fool-proof way of doing this besides try and try again. The eye staff works well too, but only if you have good timing. It takes a while to charge up and within that time you could become Alice-kabob.
